In the Military we didn't have fancy wool socks ,we just wore 2 pairs of socks . No issues during those long Military nature hikes !!!

Back then I was wearing those comfortable Vietnam era Jungle boots !!!

The heavyweight wool wicks my feet and I’ve grown accustomed to the cushion being on my feet all day

Ditto. But I can't go too thick, usually medium. I do have some heavyweight but save those for cooler months. I've found the more pairs of boots I have to switch out with, the better. Gives the insoles more time to recover on the pressure points.

Robots or web bots are automated programs that crawl websites automatically. They don't have a human web interface on the backend.

Could be google out data mining a site for free text searches. Or spammers getting email addresses that someone posts on a public website to send spam.

Don't want to block bots or your website will never show up in a search engine. Not good for a public website. Many people "seed" their website to help the search bots find their site and put it higher in the search results list.

Smartwool has gone to hell and uses a lot of synthetics now, the original founder spun off and started Point6. Of course want to wait until they go on sale usually 40% off or so. Darn Tough in Vt. is also good again on sale. They have a lifetime warranty. LL Bean and Duluth trading sell some average but good wool socks.

The higher end wool socks have cushioning on the bottom and uppers can vary in weight from lightweight to heavy. All I wear is merino wool socks and all year long. For the same reason you do.
