I just re-calibrated my vsc... have had the vsc and ABS lights on for around a week after I spun the tires hard in a slick part of my property. Worked, lights are out now...hopefully they stay that way. Thanks for the helpful post!

Well, I made it about 250 feet before the lights came back on. Guess it may be a sensor messed up. ? Any more ideas before I take it to get it looked at?

Lots of variables. Just get it looked at. Could be a bad sensor. Could be it wasnt recalibrated in sequence correctly.

Got the ABS to blink but not the slip indicator. and I too have trouble with spinning my wheels in light gravel or dirt. Tried hitting the slip indicator off button with no avail. Really do not want to go to the stealership, hate them with a passion. wondering if this is a physical problem rather than a reset code thing. Any advice would be appreciated

I too purchased The Wits End Jumper thinking it would work on an OBD-II setup like we have in the 2nd Gen Tacoma. Jumper 4/13 to set ATF Fluid Level. I was wrong.
The prongs on this tool are too big to fit an OBD-II port. I have discussed this with a Wits End employee, Joey Romero. I returned it yesterday. He said he'll try to find and refit the proper pins for an OBD-II port. More digging showed this tool is for older OBD-I vehicles. Attached is a photo of me with the business end of an Actron Code Reader in my hand with the Wits End tool off a bit to the right. Prong size/type discrepancy is obvious

Update 04/24/19 - Received refund from Wits End today for the gadget shown above in post #211. If you want something other than a paper clip, go to this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.63851/page-65

and start reading at post #1300. A few more pics are on the following page as well. The OBD connector in the part you see in post #1300 can be had from ebay from seller member021109. The pin style is identical to the pins in any code reader/scanner used in OBD-II. The Wits End gadget works on OBD-I. If you read the reviews for it at the Wits End site you will see a couple of reviews by people who own cars made prior to 1996 - those are OBD-I cars; not OBD-II.

I have a 2010 double cab. My abs, brake and traction light is on. Lifted with 33’s. Just got the truck. So figured I would give this a try.
I followed the instructions, only difference was the abs light blinked. But not the traction light. Seemed to take the programming and calibration. I see no change. My lights are still on. It this what I should expect? I did the process 4 times. Same results.

This fix worked perfectly for my 2017 Tacoma. Just put in all pro UCAs and old man emu heavy lift and did a quick driveway alignment to get me rolling. I would say double check your alignment if the lights will not go off.

No mods done. Waited for years to get my first Taco and I am going to leave it alone for a while.
Thank you so much for this post. My 2011 Prerunner did not flash as you suggested when the VSC memory was wiped out. But, I continued with the process and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for this thread worked on my 16 taco.

Had frame shop install a spindle with bearings off a 2019 (bent my spindle while off roading) and didn’t have time to do it myself. They left alignment on point but didn’t calibrate sensor. They are a older shop, after a week found this thread and took care of my lights. Next time I’ll be paying for Firestone’s lifetime alignment, $200.

Posted a thread on a "diagnostic long shot" and was directed here. Was having similar issues when taking right-hand turns hard. My driver side wheel felt like it was locking up and the brake got really hard to push followed by several terrifying seconds where I thought I was gonna die. Seem people here were having similar problems. I followed the instructions, reset without issue. Hope that this fixes it. Thanks a bunch!

I just did the recalibrated my VSC. I had ABS/brake/traction control lights on. After 250 feet down the road all lights came back on. Also while driving those 250 feet my speedo was bouncing all over the place. So light are back on now. Must be some other issue? Any ideas? I want to get it sorted out before winter in Upstate Ny as I will need ABS and vsc so I'm not spinning all over the place.

I get this issue when pulling my camper. Light will come on when I experience crosswinds. First go around cost me about 150 bucks at the dealer. This is so simple it makes me mad. Thanks for the great instructions!

Great thread/write up! I know this one is old but it's still accurate. I pinched an abs line hitting the trails too hard and threw the alignment off (again) really bad this time. Took it for alignment and they said they couldn't reset the vsc due to an abs failure. Was 100% sure it was a pinched line since I'd also broken both of the sway bar link ends and the tire was riding the toe. Ordered new line from Rock Auto for 60$ installed ran the sequence which I couldn't figure out the last step was to push the 2 paper clips together and hold them when you start the ignition the last time to perform the calibration after the reset. But did figure it out and no more codes on my dashboard. And yes It did work for my 3rd gen. Gotta reinspect the lca and drop bracket which lucky enough I have a replacement drop bracket 4" lift for that side since I'd previously had an accident that took out my left side and had saved the parts for the other. Pic is before the alignment that was driving straight lol
