I had the flange clamped together with the other side of the flange in the v-band while welding.

    #12 Pyrex cup.
25 CFH, if my cheap-o meter is to be believed.
    Yes, on the gas lense.

:hattip:Thanks man, just trying to be half as good as you!

I started working on the welding the cat, and I can say for sure I hate TIG welding slip fit stuff. Any oxygen under there between the two pieces and that metal just “poof” disappears! Butt welds are where it’s at.

Did you use acetone to clean prior?

What percent Argon did you use?

The color of the welds look like a non gas lense was used. Is why I asked about a gas lense.

How many amps did you use?

I think the tank is 100% argon. I should probably know that, but I don’t remember.

I didn’t clean anything prior, there were brand new pieces and I didn’t really think about it.

    These are the #12 cups:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0785S7FM1/

The rest of the stuff was from this set:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074TCVTJY/

I had it set at 63 amps. There could be a problem with the AHP again it made a weird noise tonight that I don’t remember it making before. Sort of sounds like argon is flowing inside the machine. But there is still argon coming out the lense so who knows. I’m going to take the cover off this weekend and take a closer look at it.

Hmm. If the lenses are good gas lenses, then those welds should be "white", depending on the speed you're moving. Even colored.

I know you have seen my "white" weld compliments, on Roost's Y-pipe page.

Didn't have any wind blowing the argon away either, correct?

    2% lanthanated tungsten?

I know we'll get you sorted out.

There is a fan nearby but it was blowing on my legs so its probably not that. 2% lanthanated tungsten, yes. Now that I'm thinking about it more, it might be that my gas lense could be clogged up or something. I'll take a look at it tonight or tomorrow.

Did you back-purge or use Solar flux?

If the solar flux is on the butt ends or gets into weld puddle, it will also grey the mixture.

I have, in haste, left the exhaust soot on the back side of some less critical components. As a shield of sorts. It mixes into the puddle and greys it as well.

Something is wrong inside the AHP with the gas flow/valve. Haven’t pulled it apart yet to investigate. In the mean time, MIG getting it done as usual.

I’m sort of done with the AHP.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No biggie. It’s not a problem, really. I’ll get it fixed up and I’ll sell it to someone with more patience than me. Then I’ll get something better.

Still Haven’t fired it up yet. Have to pull the y-pipe out and put the gaskets back and then put the O2 sensors back in.

But here’s my hodge podge of shit.

    @Roostfactor y-pipe
    3” v-band
    3” to 2.5” reducer
    OE style 2.5” spherical joint
    2.5” cat
    2.5” v-band
    TRD exhaust

Could’ve done fewer welds and fewer parts. But I didn’t want to cut into the merge collector and I wanted the cat to be removable separately.

Tomorrow I’ll go for getting the resonator in somewhere. Probably between the muffler and the tip.

Seems like the Innovate sensors screw up pretty regularly. Maybe they’re getting too hot, not sure. Truck is getting treated to a fresh pair.

Also I’m adding some heat sink extenders. They have a hole that extends down into the exhaust flow to so they can get a sample without actually being directly in the line of fire.

You're now liberated. Doesn't it feel like you can now do anything???

Looks good. Very curious to hear a comparison video between this setup and the other video you took.

Never seen those extenders before . Never looked, but still.

Yep, it’s nice not having to rely on someone else for welding tasks. Amazing what can be done with a hack saw, a MIG and a grinder!

I just put a few miles on it. It’s a bit louder overall than the stock y-pipe was, but it has less drone at 1000-2000 RPM. It actually sounds really good, but I’m going to drive it around more tomorrow before I decide wether to add the resonator.

@Lucario Runner on your T4R did you add the resonator at the same time you did the exhaust or did you put it on later?

When your tires make more noise at 70MPH than your exhaust does.

    Current setup is now:
    URD equal length headers > @Roostfactor y-pipe > 3" to 2.5" reducer > 2.5" cat > Vibrant 1141 resonator > TRD exhaust

I did a UCON datalog and max MAF was 323 g/s. Previously, the highest I saw was around 340 g/s. So I may have lost about 20 hp going from 3" exhaust to 2.5" exhaust. I knew that would happen going in, but it was less of a loss than I expected and the volume is a lot more passenger friendly.
