My first attempt at doing my own audio system. Very budget conscious for now. The speakers were free and I designed my own adapters. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone with a 3d printer larger enough to do my front speaker plates ap I had to use the metra ones and did see a point in posting those. So learning experiences from this was use brass inserts not aluminum as I believe my soldering iron got hot enough to actually damage the internal threading of the inserts. Also no matter how much you verify speaker wire length you'll still come up short lol but all in all these project went pretty smooth. The black adapters were print in ABS. Cost me $10 each to print. They weigh roughly 210 grams. The tweeter adapters cost $1 and weigh 10 grams. The grey versions I printed in PLA with minimal infill just for mock up and to ensure they fit. Which that did! My front plate adapter still needs some modifications to the design but if I find a large enough printer I'll be doing those and would cost roughly 20 each as they weigh almost a pound according to my modeling software. The headunit cost $159 and amp was $50. No sub for now... but someday I'll be able to ball out big! 20190213_181212.jpg 20190212_085342.jpg 20190305_150054.jpg 20190302_203936.jpg 20190307_150538.jpg 20190309_110527.jpg 20190309_111811.jpg

Did the Uni Filter mod today. There was a dead spider stuck on the foam filter. A perfect fit and look...Toyota should have done this at the factory or without the entire secondary air system.

Debadged the tail gate. Now I need to compound and polish it to get rid of the 11yr old “ghosting” that has occurred.

Took the girls out for a spin. The Taco's going back to weekend warrior duties with the weather improving in the NW, which means all the gas money I'm saving is getting funneled back into truck mods :anonymous:

See post 8393 for details on the lights. I used shrink tubes with low heat lead inserts for all light connections including switch. Battery started to fail about a week ago so made a trip to Advanced Auto today for a new one.

    Recharged the K&N

    upload_2019-3-10_20-19-56.jpg

Installed a Grid It to the console lid.

Took a slight different route trimming it. I pulled the stitching from the border then trimmed the Grid It then restitched it instead of just hacking it up like most do.

    upload_2019-3-10_20-24-49.jpg

And I screwed it in place instead of Velcro.

They are pretty close and the 265/70s are a little worn so they're even closer. Doing the math, they are within about a cm of each other for tread wall height. When I replace the back two, I'll go with the 245s to match the front. I'll just make sure I don't use 4wd when there is good traction!
I just started a job in Louisville, KY and doing the Air BNB thing until we sell our house in Illinois. I just got back to southern Indiana for the week and I got a little better mileage than usual. I got a little better than 18 mpg running 75 all the way. New Michelins ride so nice.

Just an oil change. Picked up a new accessory belt to replace the current as I approach 100k. Anyone have any tips/tricks to make install easier? Looks awful tight.
