Wow, you’re right. Accounting for inflation, that 2007 is higher priced.

Hopefully the loan does not have an early payoff fee, which is also called all of the interest.

You do not have to get all of those add ons. I had my dealer search for a truck with as little add ons as possible. MSRP on my taco was $39,100 and I got it for $35,300.

It shouldn’t as there are many states with consumer protections preventing dealers from doing that, but it depends on your local laws.

I opted for the Toyota finance option as I got an additional $500(maybe more?) off the trucks price. Dealer told me I had to make 6 payments before I could payoff/refinance. I read every word of the financing contract and all addendums and supplemental agreements the dealer put in front of me. Never in any document was a prepayment or early payoff fee disclosed. So I refinanced quickly with my local credit union at a 3% rate. Worked out pretty nicely.

    Read your contracts folks!

In '99 our 4Runner Limited was 38k. FWIW.
While not new the '16 TRD DCSB w/ 17k miles was 31k OTD. Bank said they valued it at 34.5k.

The trick is in the math. And reading.

The loan docs say that there is a penalty of not more than $75 for paying off in less than six months.
If you pay all but whatever would equal five payments on the first installment, then pay the monthly amount for five months, you can get in for a skosh less than $75 of financing.
Of course, making the largest possible down payment will also save many bucks during that first month.

And I have cash - been saving for ten years.

Now, no more of this! go out and enjoy!! :)

It's amazing what it cost for vehicles nowadays. I was looking at a off road and the cheapest one I could find what's 37 out the door with cash money in hand. No leather, heated seats, power rear window, locking tail gate, keyless entry, running boards, cat back exhaust, full connectivity group and a few other little things.

Found a pro that someone had ordered that got impatient of waiting on it. They wanted 52 out the door and I was able to get them down to exactly 49,000. I might have been able to squeeze a little bit more but the base price was 46. The problem was it was the only one in the whole Houston area that was Calvary blue. No other dealerships at the time had Pros and the one that was going to be getting one of them would be a few weeks out and they didn't know what it was going to be colorwise. Also it would have sold within a few days so they weren't going to come off much if any on what I paid anyway.

The more I thought about it to buy an off-road and try to make it like a pro I would be at or more of what I paid to get the pro. Didn't make sense when it's already set up for you. The only thing I changed were the street tires and shity door speakers. I've added a few other little things to make it my own.
