1995.5 Tacomas only - how many are still out there

I drove an hour yesterday in the rain,snow and fog to check out some used dealer that had a '97 xtracab for sale @ $2200, thing was rusted to krap at +300k miles
not a wasted trip though, the engine has been aching for an xtended highway drive for months

 

Cool!! I should try this some day, my mirrors are always being bumped or pushed in..

 

dang your truck is clean! do you have some kind of paint protector/sealant to protect from the gravel chips?

especially the fillers under the headlights, I had to have the body shop paint me a new one the chips were so bad from highway driving

 

Damn, I see tacomas in my state "Idaho" that are either sold for scrap or sitting abandoned, it makes me sad to see great truck being parted out. Especially ones with little to no rust!

 

I believe so, SR5 often had the chrome everywhere, you know.. More bling!!!

 

yeah, but I have learned on here that not everybody likes or has chrome mirrors and some even paint them black
I am also waiting for all the snow here to melt away and figure out what the deal is with my new chrome rear bumper I got put on 2 months ago

 

Yeah that's true sometimes too much bling is bad. And is your bumper new stock or new custom?

 

it's a new OEM stock, I have not ever really done any mods other than 2 sets of tuner/tape/CDplayer from the original

 

I have it professionally waxed, buffed and sealed every fall before winter.

I cut a clear film paint protector for the filler panels

 

Okay, my next question is what's wrong with it haha, because I also had to buy new Oem bumper (fender bender) I bought the cheapest one and regretted it

 

I got a local quote recently on a full detail with some sort of sealant to make it 'scratch resistant' and no more swirl marks (for a few years at least) for about $1000

 

The 4runner seats you have to cut and reweld one leg,

Corbeau seats took 45 minutes to install, very easy

Wow that's a nice truck! My truck has rock chips and has been waxed by me. I'm not professional I pretty much suck haha anyway cool truck!

 

Ohhh, no I get it done for like 300.00, that’s for a buff, wax, sealed.

My paint is original and still shines even with 600,000 miles 21 years old

well I need to get some pics and show what I mean but there is a small amount of friggn discoloration/rusty color around the license plate and one of the lamp light screws. We had a nasty winter with lots of ice from rain under a foot of snow and they pelted our main roads with some nasty liquid cloride to get through an inch of ice to dry pavement. They left our residential streets a mess. I have hit the touchless carwash everyday to get that stuff off best I can but I don't know why this new bumper is discoloring already

Yep, that was my problem too. Rust around the thin parts by the license plate and small discolored specs. If you take tin foil and rub the rusty spots it will pretty much disappear. I also bought some chrome spray paint and sprayed a little on a paper plate and then took a paint brush and fixed the ugly parts. I'll have to show you the results later, but it helps a lot, especially tin foil. Tinfoil also helps rusty rims

 

If it’s just small surface rust “magic eraser” works well On the chrome.
