How was the stream crossing to forest lake? Do we all need to go out and buy 6" lifts and snorkels??? :)

I'd really like to see some pics to see what type of thing I'm thinking about getting myself into. I have my shocks set at about 2" of lift now, but if you think I should, I can go up another 1" to 1.5" pretty easy. (Thinking about it to decrease the rake a bit anyway). Honestly, is this something I'm getting over my head on thinking about doing? Are we talking about things like 2 foot bolders we have to crawl over, or just a few large rocks and some ditches?

Miller Hill is the place where George Tyng's grave is at the top. As the bird flies, its south of Mineral Basin, between the Mary Ellen Gulch and Mineral Basin trails. Attached is a map to it, just in case you know it as something else. http://www.utahwest.com/truck/amerfork.htm (Doesn't look really bad to me, as even in the large rock areas, it looks like you could go around if you choose the right path. No clue how old this is though.)

lol. Now you're just trying to scare us (I hope)...

I want pictures. If knew the area I'd go pre-run it on my bike.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing, but no bike here. Maybe I can talk one of them to take me up so I can take some pics, as long as theirs no pressure to finish the trail if I dont feel comfortable.

If you're willing to do this, just let me know when you can and I'd love to do it. I live in Riverton, so about 15 min away from AF canyon. Tomorrow and all fridays wont be good for me, but any other time would be fine.

X2. There's awesome single track up there that'll have to hit up. So so so much fun.

I'm in the same boat great. I don't want to pee my pants on the run. I'm 99% sure I won't be participating on the Forest Lake trail so whoever wants to do that trail then be my guest. I'll be taking a different trail.

Originally, I wasn't even going to consider being worried about crossing a river, as I couldn't imagine it being too bad considering its a road of sorts, but in seeing the weather this whole week is going to be raining, it actually might be something we'll have to worry about if it keeps up. Of course I did my breather mod a while ago, but I still wouldn't want to cross anything much deeper than say, tire height.

The Forest Lake run will be an AFTER RUN not the main run! let's worry about the main before scaring poeple off by talking about forest lake to much.
but as far as the concerns with forest lake, it is just large rocks and ditches! not moab !
    - the stream is back to a stream not even a river...( a 10 year old could walk threw it with out problems) its the spring run off that's a bitch:mad:
    - P.M. me someone, and ill give out my number so you can call and we'll go, you can even ride passenger or bring your truck and i'll show you the terrain. its not bad stock jeeps have made it up ( i know cuz i drove one up there this year!)) the only thing is you might want a spotter for our longer vehicles. but each other can do that for one the other.
-miller hill? even with the map I'm not sure? i know lately they've blocked off alot of roads so that new plant life can grow.

please someone, anyone, P.M. me and we'll get together and do a prerun so i'm not the only one defending the terrain and get pic's

Thats kinda what I was thinking concerning the Forest Lake trail. Few large rocks we either go over or around, a few run off ditches we have to go over, a puddle to dip into, and lots of trees and narrow roads.

    PM sent.

Figure since I've been on both previous runs, and have a pretty open schedule, not afraid of a little pin striping, and dont live far away, I could take the bullet and see how it compares to the other trails we've done.

Question is, would people prefer more pics or more first hand accounting for running it, as that would depend if I drive it or sit passenger along it.

Thanks for posting the pic's. Count me in, that doesn't look too bad. If we were careful I bet we could get a stock truck through that.

    Pictures can be deceiving though...

This is the only one that really looks scary to me. I hate angles like that as its the most likely time to tip. Considering the top of the lower tire is about equal to bottom of the high tire, thats quite the angle and much more and I'd really be concerned about tipping. I'm sure thats a good 25-30 degree angle. (Opps. nevermind. If you make the trees vertical, it ends up only being a 10-15 degree angle. No worries)

The rest of it, well, we did worse in Farmington as far as flexing. We also climbed up steeper in 5 mile. Maybe a few larger rocks, but really not that bad.

Those don't look bad at all. I should be game for sure. My biggest concern was not having sliders. I would be destroyed if I took a boulder to the cab :(
