I’m putting on a bed rack, so I will no longer be able to use my soft tonneau. I’ve been using a couple of plastic storage bins to store my camping gear and various EDC stuff, but I’m wondering if anything exist that’s more durable that I can chain/shackle to my truck to prevent theft, and also weatherproof. Would love to hear some suggestions!

Bolted to the rails on the side, quite a few people have done it. Fits tools and small items.

I've been using the Tractor Supply box for over a year now works great. I can put a lock on it secure it with a bicycle cable to my bed rack. I also like it because it almost takes up the width between the wheel wells and it does not go above the sides of the truck bed. I put a bead of silicone to make it more weather proof.

This is freaking perfect. Does the bin have some sort of latch that you secure your bicycle cable to? Is it weatherproof?

I use either pelican 1620 or 1660 depending on how much space I need. 100% waterproof, lockable and indestructible

No. I attach the cable to one of the locks on it.

Get some dimensions, get some surplus stainless, weld up a custom fit box. Light, strong, very rust resistant and a fun project.

I’m all for DIY projects, but honestly just buying a tool box would be much easier and cheaper.

I wonder if it will open with this bed cover? It rolls open but you can also open it from the back.

Mobtown makes lockable metal doors for the cubbies in the bed. I know you are asking about larger options but if you want to lock some smaller stuff as well its a start.

I bought this box from Walmart for about 30 bucks I think. I added the chains so the top wouldn't flop back when I opened it. I also put a piece of toolbox carpet in the bottom so things wouldn't move around as much. I would run a bike cable through the lock on the box to a tie down in the bed. Worked very well until I got my topper. Always stayed dry inside even during torrential downpours.

It may. Tractor supply has a good return policy. Stop by one of their stores and try it out.

If I wanted it Bayteff Salvage has plenty of scrap SS as well as aluminum and mild steel. Just find a scrap metal yard. Lot's of restaurants/food prep around so plenty of SS table tops.
