In whose book? Our book? Plenty of other hobbies/groups would call our use unacceptable.

My point isn't that this guy's actions are acceptable (they're not) - it's that the #metoo outrage on an offroad truck forum is just as embarrassing as his actions.

How you can be part of the motorized offroad community and not see the long term implications of behavior like this is disappointing. When you shrug your shoulders at behavior like this you lose the right to complain about losing access to trails and areas due to abuse. The hippies use things like this for ammunition to limit responsible access to public lands.

They violated the leave no trace ethic. It was not consistent with doing as little damage to the environment as possible. But worse, it was done out of a Hey, Look At ME! profit motive.

If people are pissed off @ the douchely TacomaYeast... they can probably have the biggest impact by going to the Prinsus Designs / CBI Facebook page and politely telling CBI that if this is true, and CBI does not terminate business / dealership arrangements with the douchely one... that you will take your 4x4 dollars elsewhere.

I’m a bit out of the loop but aren’t we just assuming is was one of the guys that work for the company? Could have been the youngest looking to be cool and gain some attention of the popular instagram cool guys.

Oh, I watched it and laughed at the irony.

Burning out on a rock "on-trail" is okay to you because it falls within the offroad community's set of norms. It's fine with me too - because my norms line up with my hobbies. But there are plenty of other user groups out there (of the leaf eating type) that see our use as completely unacceptable.

If you guys really cared, you'd PM him and strike up a conversation about treading lightly. You might even put together a group run to go out and clean it up as much as possible.

But that's not what this thread is... this is a #metoo circle jerk that is all bark and no action.

    Exactly. Your getting it finally.

That’s why we don’t do craptastic things like this for hikers to see.

That’s also why we should be courteous to hikers, bikers, etc. I always offer water, see if they’re ok and offer rides if injured. I can’t count how many times I’ve helped hikers or Mountain bikers. I just figure it’s my duty and helps the sport.

His page has more followers than any of the brands he associates with. Don’t think it was a plea for more attention.

Not our book. The BLM’s book, the Forest Services book, the OHV park’s book.

This goes to most of our points. There are standards in place to ensure responsible use on established trails and OHV roads. Public display of abuse outside of that is not tolerated. That gives everyone who wants to shut down that access the ammo they need to further their agenda.

Shit, even the whole Joshua Tree debacle during the government shutdown. Even though the picture on social media was found to be unfounded it didn’t stop the efforts of those trying to demonize our hobby.

I'm not shrugging my shoulders, I'm just not waling with my panties in a wad on a forum while doing absolutely nothing about the activity.

All your outrage - what have you done to correct this action? Have you reached out to TCMBST to talk to him about treading lightly? No. All this thread has done is drawn more attention to a bad action of one of our own.
