I thought about that too, but a lot of the stuff I'd do with those tools is just a quick cut or two. It'd be handy to not be tethered to a cord for that sort of thing.

That sucks, was going to say it wipes, but sounded better in my head than it looked typed.

Meh. They were due for replacement anyway; they were just a cheap set that the dealer threw on there before they sold it and the wipe edges were getting chewed up. Which is why I had a spare set on hand; I'd ordered a set of Rain-X beam wipers and was just waiting until we were done with icy weather to install them. So much for that plan...

Have you used Rain-X wipers before? I was thinking of switching to this spring but wasn't sure if they'd make any difference

No, this is my first set. I've used Rain-X for almost 20 years, but never their wipers. Apparently these have an application of rain-x on the blades themselves; you install them, run them on a dry windshield for a couple of minutes, and you've got a fresh coat.

Let me know what you think. I use Rain-X on the windshield too and like it. I actually have Rain-X wiper fluid in right now and it works great so I assumed the wiper blades would be good too, but not sure.

Will do. I run their washer fluid too, the de-icer. Between the application of rain-x and the refresh it gets whenever I use the washer fluid, I honestly don't need to use my wipers most of the time. Mostly just when I'm plowing light powdery stuff; it flies up over the plow. Rain just rolls off while I'm driving, as long as I'm doing better than 25mph or so.

I love Rain-X, but it is so addicting.
It seems to me to need to be refreshed a lot.

I never got more than a year out of a set on the Tacoma, but they also saw mud/dirt regularly. Bosch didn't last as long as the rain-x sets I've had. Currently trying out the duralast wipers on the Tacoma for shits and giggles. The Rain-x work well for a while, but streak and take a bit to clear water once they start to go. Could also be from sitting outside and not getting driven for periods of time. Not completely sure

So far, I really like the wipers that came on the Ford. I've tried Bosch, Rain-X, Trico, and a bunch of others and was not thrilled with any of them. The Bosch ones lasted, but had a tendency to chatter. The Rain-X started streaking quickly, the Tricos clip failed and one went flying off on me at night. At this point, I will probably buy another set of Ford OEMs when these fail. Bonus is I think they're pretty cheap.

I too love Rain-X...I do so much highway driving that I'm annoyed if I have to slow down and turn on the wipers. I almost never use my wipers now. I washed my truck this weekend and got to put a fresh satisfying coat on the windshield. I left the spray bottle in my truck about a month ago and it tipped over and spilled on the rear carpet...I couldn't figure out what the "Chemical smell" was...It smelled so familiar...and then I finally found the leaking rain-x

Strange. I only apply mine twice a year, spring and fall, and it never seems like it wears out between applications. :notsure:

I've always just run just the cheap Anco for years and years (Partly because they're the only ones that still come with the adapter for the old school Dodge wiper arms), but I had a coupon for the Rain-X wipers that made them just as cheap as the Anco's so I figured what the hell

The one time I used Rain-x wiper blades, they fell apart after a few months.

Speaking of wipers, the intermittent speed on my 4Runner is opposite of how it was on the Tacoma. Sounds silly, but can't get used to it lol.

So they are what the should be on the 4Runner. I was just in deep thought about this yesterday. What are the symbols on the wiper switch trying to tell us?

That's surprising. Allegedly, you and I have the same cab so, I'd guess, the same windshield configuration. I hated the OEM wipers, wouldn't wipe worth a damn. I've since been through Rain-X, Tricos and Bosch blades and haven't found any of them to do a great job, they all chatter. I'm using the cheaper Rain-X framed blades and they've done the best so far. I wonder if it has to do with the shape of the hood, almost seems like there's a low pressure zone about half way up the windshield and the wipers chatter there. I run Rain-X on the windshield and that helps because I don't even need the blades in most conditions.

Do they rub magic rock-x to keep my windshield from looking like the surface of the moon?

On my Tacoma, the OEM wiper blades were the best. I tried Rain-X Latitudes, Bosch Icons, and Trico Onyx blades. I found the cheaper Trico ExactFit blades worked better for half the price.

On my 4Runner, this is set on the fastest setting. By habit, I keep turning the knob to the lower setting expecting the wipers to go faster.
