I completely agree. It does seem a bit odd since the end result it essentially the same. And death threats are completely irrational. Honestly, I'm a little more upset at how people reacted than I am of the perpetrators. These folks probably had no clue and were just ignorant. Goes to show that there needs to be more mentorship in this sport.

yeah and how dare anybody wait 5 fricking minutes for the perpetrators to issue a response. get your pitchforks and death threats IMMEDIATELY before knowing any of the story. sorry ass people out there man.

this could easily be used as a great learning experience and teach others about it, and maybe even TacomaBeast provide some quality tutorial about how to repair/fix a rock that gets damaged IDK, but now it's turned into a show us how obnoxious you can be with insults towards the guy

well when in some areas it's still a fight to have trails. So instead of doing like some people in our group do and push their trucks spinning tires in 2wd you should go ahead and put it in 4low and try and make it as easy as possible. The more erosion or defacing that happens the harder it becomes to have land usage for trail riding. That's the argument, we all love trail riding, but there's a lot of legal fights that go on to have a place to ride.

This is also a big deal for dirt bikes having riding areas. Same with MTB, you don't want to go fast and slide into every turn you want to stay consistent and keep the trails preserved.

every time a vehicle spills oil it creates more fuel for the fire for "tree huggers"

someone bats an eye rather we see or hear about it.

that's what I'm saying though, these folks we see causing such an uproar and wishing ill on people don't do the same with other situations. it's only what they pick and choose to be mad about. that, to me, is the issue.

nobody is angry about indians and natives doing carvings and paintings years ago, wonder if they had piss ant pigeon carrier warriors sending letters complaining about them damaging the land.

i get what you're saying. It's wrong in the fact that this is intentional.

throughout time rock carvings have been used, but that's a history lesson not branding.

Also I'd be willing to bet most of these parks we've been to have had legal battles at some point to stay open.
I would assume Chocco being in a subdivision probably didn't go over to well with the locals, same with AOP.
Stoney and Windrock not being associated with any neighborhoods possibly no legal battles.

I know Montgomery Motor Speedway opening back up years ago cost the owners thousands and thousands of dollars in court, i know the owners, and it put a lot of rules on times of operation.

Again no one deserves to die, but scolding and trolling are okay in my books. Similar to why one of our members got the hammer recently, no death threats just picking at someones idea

This all boils down to one idiot pissing off a bunch of other idiots. Agree, don't vandalize shit, but also don't get butt hurt when someone does something wrong differently than you. The guys that are butthurt are not arguing that its detrimental to wildlife, land, etc. They are pissy because he intentionally did something wrong instead of "unintentionally" intentional. There isn't a guy on this thread or anywhere for that matter that goes wheeling and doesn't expect their skid plates, sliders, or bumpers hitting, grinding, marking up the trail somehow someway. If that was the case, skids, sliders, and bumpers wouldn't be a thing. This just reminds me of the old saying of "Don't judge me because I sin differently than you".

Carving your Instagram handle can be a history lesson one day too. We have no idea why the natives carved or painted what they painted, maybe they were just having fun and playing. Nobody knows. Again, people pick and choose what makes them angry.

this is true, but we still try to avoid banging armor around on things, at least I do. It happens, but armor is there for a last resort, not watch me go bang some rocks. Though some trails bang me around pretty well, I can't help the trail doesn't have an easier path.

Also this rule doesn't apply as much to us on the east coast. We don't have as hard of a time acquiring places to ride like they do on the west.

probably not. Tacoma's have some of the most drama-filled, never do anything wrong, entitled owners.

jeeps are all ok with being butt buddies with each other so no drama over there i bet lol

It is a constant battle to keep Choccolocco open. There are so many creeks and springs so people use that to attack it. Trey has fought really hard to even keep just boat ramp open.
