This got posted in a fb group I'm in and I had to share. I recently bought my 17 OR and I saw a ton of trucks like this. Crap spacer lift, worn tires, costs more than a new truck. Trucks with 10-40k miles that are priced ABOVE new pricing. WTF is happening here? Are dealers just hoping people don't know what new trucks cost? So many overpriced used trucks on the same lot as new trucks, who is buying these things?

The demand is there, at least in theory. Similar scenarios/pricing over at the local Jeep dealerships...

I could see this but 80% of the ones I looked at were not CPO. Toyota dealerships were selling used ones that were NOT certified and jacking the price up.

One way to bring the price down. Quit buying the Tacoma at the escalated price. It is one thing for a vehicle (Tacoma) to hold its value. It is another to have a seller go crazy on the price.

I also realize people are not going to quit buying Tacoma's. Just don't pay more than what Toyota says it should sell for.

If you’re like my mother... and my sister then you’ll buy a car without even test driving it. I don’t think they do much research.. Same can be said with some of the people I know. Hrm...

Dude tons of dealerships of every manufacturer have been doing this since the 1960's. Where do you think Shelby came from? Copo Camaro? Jeep AEV. Toyota XP or whatever the Southeast distributor sells.
It's not one or a few dealers, it's most of them.

As far as who buys them or what they are truly worth, normal people buy them and the price is worth it to them.
They are not suckers, nor dumb nor do they have more money than sense.
They are normal hard working people who are not enthusiasts who want something different and are willing to pay for it. They are ignorant is all and they don't care.

They look cool at the mall and that's what matters to them. And, that's ok.

Strangely, I found Tacomas significantly cheaper at major dealerships than private party or the smaller used lots.

Some folks seem to think there is a shortage of the most produced and sold mid size truck in America... lol your truck isn't rare. Its a Tacoma

Some people will pay the extra because 1, they can finance the extras into their loan, and 2, because they want a vehicle that already has the work they want done to it. Not everyone likes 10+ year projects

A local dealership here always keeps 4 in stock that have been sent down the local 4 Wheel Parts. All have 3/2 spacer lifts, tire/wheels, and accessories such as lightbars and Nfab steps. On average 10k increase over MSRP. Hope people know those “lifts” retail at like $250.

Market here (Indianapolis) is flooded with 2016-2017 Tacoma’s. They seem to be sitting for a long time while I was shopping, prices just kept dropping. 2014-2015s seem to have much better resale.

Surprised the add didn't say something about "Super Rare Tactical FDE model!" That always adds a premium if you say "Rare!" and make shit up.
