Farewell Taco

Well guys, its been real, but unfortunately, I was forced to sell the Taco.

On a recent trip down to Eglin AFB the transfer case in my 2016 SR5 Tacoma failed.

Toyota of North America told me that they would not be able to source a new transfer case for at least a month as it was "on backorder". This is the second time that the supply chain for parts has burned me despite being under warranty.

When asking the dealer for a root cause analysis of why the transfer case destroyed itself they said that they had no idea.

It is for this reason that I've decided to sell the truck and purchase a brand new 2019 4runner.





This is incredibly bittersweet for me as I loved that truck and put quite a bit of effort into modding it myself.

I want to thank you all for all the knowledge that you've passed on. TW is awesome!

I have a 4Runner and Tacoma. They both have their pluses. I think you made a good choice.

Dealer gave me KBB + $1000 bucks for the trade in. I wanted a little more, but I wasn't in the best place to negotiate. They gave me the 4runner for MSRP. I think it was like 40k. (They knocked off all the regional pricing and dealer markup BS that they put on bro trucks in Florida cus they could tell I was pretty pissed, haha)

 

Damn, 40k for a TRD pro is a hell of a deal! Sweet man, hope it replaces the love you had for the taco!

Not that's there is anything wrong with that, I have same 4runner and it's awesome. If you don't need a bed I see no advantage to the Tacoma

 

If it were a Ranger, it'd be suicide.

 

This feels more like if your BFF admits to you he’s a vegan.
