Ah! I’ve heard of it before but have had a few bad experiences with other apps loosing signal so figured it was no different! Pretty neat features for $10. I’ll definitely try making a trip out to joshua tree. Probably the nearest place in LA with the least light pollution lol.

I dont like Joshua Tree, theres so much light pollution from palm springs now, it depends on where you go in the park. I prefer going up 395 to find some dark places to make it worth it. The other thing I dont like about Jtree, is the amount of planes that fly over head. Its not an issues if you are shooting stills since you can just wait between shots, but time lapses look terrible. Looks like a space battle going on with planes flying everywhere. lol

so you would go this route? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1366792-REG/nikon_13533_d7200_dual_zoom_lens.html

looking about this price range.. and with dual lens from the get go it should be versatile.. only issue I can possibly see is that the screen is fixed flat to the back of the camera. which can be handy.. how is the durability of the body/lens mounts?

That would be a fantastic start. You could add better glass down the road. DSLR's are not phones, you look through the viewfinder and not the back of the camera most of the time. The mounts will outlast your use. That is getting a lot for a cheap price imho. Good luck!

Theres so much color hidden in that shot. I did crush the blacks a bit as I prefer a bit more soft tone there.

Wow, there are some amazing photos in this thread. I'm an amateur at best and usually take a hundred snaps to get one good one, but I have fun with it so that's all that matters to me. Captured this today and thought it was cool so I'll share. Taken with a Nikon 5500 and 55-300 lens:

Crushed my d750 in a boating accident last weekend.... In the market for a new full frame Nikon now. Saw a good d810 in my area. Any thoughts?
