Hey all I have a 2001 prerunner crew cab v6 with a shell on it. So when I go down hills when I've got all my camping gear in the back, the truck has a hard time doing hills. I actually warped my rotors up in Mammoth last year coming down from Rock
Creek Lake, which has a steep road. Any aftermarket brake upgrades to help the truck?

    Tundy 13WL brake swap.
Do a search...plenty of threads on it.
On my phone and it's a bit difficult to nav, atm.

Is it expensive? I was thinking like aftermarket rotors, pads, and calipers, but im open to anything that I can do and is affordable.

Not sure what the cost is. Several people have done it.

Here's one more Tundra walkthrough, with links to all the necessary parts. This one also covers why these specific components are good ones to use (essentially, OEM vs. aftermarket) for the brakes on your truck - a key safety item.

    Ask away with questions.

I've seen kits for the conversion for around $300.

When you're going down these hills do you use a lower gear? Especially when fully loaded if I'm on dirt going down a steep hill I'll keep it in 4lo to save the brakes, otherwise I'll keep it in a low gear in 2wd

I did an aftermarket upgrade on my 2nd gen and did not notice much of a difference in braking. After about 2 months I finally got around to installing stainless steel brake lines and that made a huge improvement.

    As said above...

13WL Tundra brake swap (with upgraded brake lines front rear. LC Engineering brake lines for front)... End of story.

Icon/TC Mid travel, TRD S/C, PNP Greddy EMU, 625cc injectors, 2.2 pulley, Hayden tranny cooler, AEM wideband, TRD boost gauge.
I have an auto, huge B&M tranny cooler, obdii Bluetooth and torque app- engine braking makes the trans temp go up FAST. Tundra brakes upgrade all the way, I actually avoid long pulls of engine braking now.

They were Stop Tech brand. I think I got them from Jegs.com.
