Let's just think about what your are saying here. The man just complained about scratching some powder from the spring with a rented compressor. Do you think he will be happy when he sees the holes on his coil nut get gaped out from adjusting while on the truck?

In order to prevent any damage to the coil nut, the best bet is to remove the CO, use a spring compressor, and then spin the nut.

Note: I realize that many people don't follow the manufacturers suggestion on this. I myself purchased used COs with a trashed coil nut. Do to Nitorias OCD, this needed to be said.

Haha with that level of ocd I def see your point. I have adjusted my Kings about 10 times along with some buddies of mine. As long as you have finesse and use proper tactics you can save your coil nut although I have toasted two t-handles. They just die eventually once the arm starts to strain at the tip. I have heard that adjusting fox’s are a pain in the ass though.

    Hey all,

Can I get a recommendation on a local vendor to pick up some 1/4” HDPE or UMHV sheet stock? If any exist in Tucson that'd be ideal, but I’m in PHX monthly so no deal breaker there.

I’m looking to cover the ‘roof’ of my cab/bed racks to minimize wind resistance at highway speeds. It’s incredible how much that increases fuel consumption at 65+ MPH.

    Thanks!

Yeah I don’t know how it is for Fox, but with the tool from king, I’ve probably adjusted mine 10+ times and they are only just starting to show marks from adjusting. Lube the threads and use the right tool and if you’re careful, you can adjust them on the truck without damaging the nut. At least that’s been my experience with Kings. And I’m still on my original adjusting tool from my mt kit that’s probably almost 5 years old now.

Port plastics in Gilbert is where I get all my stuff. I assume they have what you need but I usually am just buying ABS when I’m there.

I’ve adjusted my ADS shocks w/ 700lb springs on the truck a few times - no signs of wear or marring on the threads or preload adjustment collar.

I did spring for the ADS tool instead of just buying a cheap roll pin punch and it has been the best $35 I’ve spent.

Y’all see the drama about that guy carving his company name in a rock in Utah?

I totally get that it’s wrong but the way social media blows it up, people give it more traction to create a bigger problem than it has to be.

Not cool to do, but I think the social media shaming makes it worse tbh.

No it sucks, shit like that is how cool public lands get closed and or lead to strict permitting rules. Basically assholes like that ruin things for the decent folk.

Agreed man the lube is the way to go as it’s amazing how much it will loosen things up. I still got my two punches in pristine condition, but it’s the t handle that would die out. I should probably just buy two of them at once as I normally use my t handle in conjunction with my punch to alleviate stress on the coil nut holes.

Totally agree man. I’m just seeing this trend where the community blows it up, getting more attention rather than telling the guy what is wrong with that and getting it fixed on the down low so not to draw more attention to it and have it end up in the laps of the people who will shut it down.

Totally makes sense as the more people freak about it, the more visibility and opportunity for the land owner to see it. I swear social media creates so many problems due to everyone wanting to voice things instead of one comment on it and moving on.

It is also a double edged sword, by posting it you are also giving the asshole that vandalized it publicity. I mean dude will probably end up gaining followers after this sadly. Many hiking groups discourage people from posting pics of vandalism in the name of "justice" for that reason. Only positive about the blow back is hopefully someone will see it and remember the negative responses next time they go outdoors and think about defacing the wilderness.

People were going HAM on the guy. I was reading the comments for shits and giggs and people we're wishing death on him and all this other stuff. I think we all get why it wrong but man do people get wild when they're online. Seems to me that sliders and tire marks cause more harm than the carving of a name on a rock.
