The problem people have is this gives ammunition to environmentalist groups to close down these trails. It's a constant battle here in Utah and this definitely doesn't help. Here we have designated trails to be on and our responsibility is to minimize the damage to the environment as much as possible. Can you imagine if we didn't have designated trails and people left black marks or rock slider marks all over Moab? It would be a disaster. It not only opens up attacks on the off roading community and lead to possible closing of trails but those trails could be closed to bikers, hikers etc so everyone loses. Just because other people do it doesn't make it ok and it needs to stop or we're not going to have anywhere to go to enjoy the outdoors or have the land sold off to private entities who will charge lots of $$$$ to access these lands.
