scary times here. these were both older buildings so who knows what structural deficiencies there were and what the building code was way back when. its amazing no one was hurt
i do know that with all of the snow we've gotten lately there's a whole bunch of contractors holding their breath ....pretty sure a lot of them were cutting corners and ignoring what myself and the structural engineers were telling them...

The snow totals from February are just huge. 247% of normal precipitation. Been very cold here in Helena but it is looking up. Can’t wait for spring

I just upgraded my front and rear suspension so I have all the OEM parts (front coilovers with revtek spacers, UCAs, leaf springs, rear struts, and rear block spacers). They are from my 2014 off-road. They have about 40k mostly highway miles on them and are all in good shape. I haven't posted them for sale yet, if there's any interest from anyone in or near the Flathead valley area let me know. I'm not sure on price, if anyone is interested let me know.

I've always wondered if there was a market for OEM suspension parts.

I tried a junk yard, but quickly found out they could be "stolen". :rofl:Makes sense though.

sometimes. if someone is selling their truck and the new suspension is still in good shape they may opt to take that off and go back to stock. sell the truck and aftermarket parts separately

I thought it would be a long shot, it's not worth shipping so if there's no interest locally I will keep it or dump it.

A lot of folks keep asking, "What engineer was cool with a flat roof in Montana?"

But, I've seen flat rooftops at the hospital too... so...

Flat roofs are fine so long as A-they were engineered correctly and are periodically inspected for rot/stress,etc and B- that the contractor wasnt some sleazy dude who wanted to cut a few corners so he could make a buck.

Can't speak for the 70's when those were built. But I have drywall nails poking through, cracks in paint, stuff like that in my home that's like 4 years old. They only ran 14 gauge wire throughout the house (so max 15amps) even though it's pretty standard to do 12gauge (20amps) these days. Didn't bother to tape my HVAC ducting even though code requires it (and refused to do it because they know the city won't actually enforce it).

As the snow starts to melt off my wifes enthusiasm too get out and do things is rising. Looking for recommendations for trails within 2 hours of billings. Not looking to camp at this point but some day trips. I have been reading on Benbow mine trail, that one looks fun. However what is a good time to start headed out for clear trails, couple weeks? A month?

Likely May. Way too much snow out here for Benbow(I work about 8 miles from the trail head). Goo 2-3' and up to 8' drifts. You're not going up that trail for a while.

The Pryors melt off fast. Its pretty up there and fun to check out the horses. But Id also likely wait a bit for more snow to melt.

Yeah. I think if a person is going to build a home you either need to find a good builder you really trust... or need to micromanage and show up on the site all the time.

    And I hate micromanagers.

We are leaning towards buying land and building our own house. We have a 25ft camper we can live out of over the warmer months. If we can get a big garage up then we can live in the camper in the garage for the winter if need be.

We built our house about 10 yrs ago. They did a decent job but I was here on site VERY often. And they did do one thing which I did not and still don’t like but overall did a good job. Get references and call them ALL. Also - it is very market dependent. Here in Helena it’s not as crazy at Bozeman - I think that helps.
