It is supposed to be an excellent camera from everything I have read. I bought a d750 recently because I don't really need the extra pixels that you get with the 810. You can get great deals on 750's right now.

I'm not sold yet on the Nikon and Canon mirrorless systems yet. I'll get one eventually but I want to give them a few more years to develop it. DSLR will be entirely obsolete in a few years, but not just yet. At least in my mind.

Y'all aren't helping much haha I loved my d750 so much, coming from the d7000, it was like a whole new game. Mirrorless sounds nice since I travel so much with my camera, bags are always heavy and want to shoot more video. Also, money.

Definitely a good body and a step up from the D750; the only real downside is that the buffer fills up quickly if you're shooting RAW or RAW+JPG and you REALLY need to spend the extra for the fastest cards to get the most out of it. That said, if you're someone who does a lot of 'spray & pray' shooting, there is no downside, and a nice, lightly used D810 can be had for a [comparatively speaking] song.

If you plan on shooting video and want to have a much lighter kit for traveling and a lot of Nikon glass and want a much lighter body the take a good look at the Z6. There are several Z6 Facebook groups with examples. the 24-70 S lens is ridiculously sharp. The picture is my buddies D750 with the Tamron 15-30 G1 with grip and my Z6 with the 24-70. They are different animals and will require spending the time to get to know the camera and it's focusing systems. But as others have said above, you can get a great deal on a D750 right now which is an amazing camera just not so much for video. Also, the perspective of this shot exaggerates the size difference.

These are from a road trip to the Pacific Northwest. I mainly shoot Nikon - as the cameras have gotten better and better, I've used my medium and large format rigs less and less. The D850 takes better images than my Hassie, which is pretty crazy.

Also, this past August, I did a 9k road trip from Texas to Newfoundland, CA and back. I took two months to do it, visited my parents, friends, my girlfriend, and did some work along the way. I started the trip with 284k miles on my '97 Tacoma. It's got 296k on it now.

Did you see the white squirrels in Olney, IL.? It is right on Hwy 50. We do have people walking or riding a bike coast to coast that stop in every so often. How I know is it makes the front page of the Olney Daily Mail. LOL!

Doing some research, I thought the price point was higher... good deals on the financing options for it too. Might be the move. Thanks a lot for the info.

Use to rock two d850's but recently swapped one for a z6 and absolutely love it. Regardless of the dxo ratings, I'm very happy with the z6 results compared to d850 and probably gonna go full mirrorless next gen. Nikon also doing a promotion soon for free adapters with all mirrorless camera purchases

Unfortunately we didn't make it that far East. I am definitely adding that to my list of Obscure road attractions. Next to the Synchronous Fireflies.

Visiting/looking at anything in the Great Smoky Mountains would be time well spent. Love that part of the country.

Yea, wife wanted to see flowers so we went to the blooming Anza-Borrego Desert. I realize I did not make this in time to be considered, but I thought I would share it. Though the crowds are a complete turnoff we went for a soak at the Aqua Caliente Hot Springs and made camp in Indian Canyon south of there (only a handful of vehicles passed by).

I haven't shot with a Z6 but here at work we went from the D810 to the D850 and both are super nice cameras. I LOVE my D850 and use it for sports more than our D4s. The image quality is superb. Besides a new camera you also need to look at new batteries maybe and any other peripherals that may or may not swap over from a DSLR to a Mirrorless...
