@honda50r How was Windrock? Looked miserable, but maybe in a good way?

Shit was lit dude. The course was brutal and all the major media sites toned down their footage to exclude all the gnarly crashes at the first rock garden. At one point two riders crashed back-to-back and needed extracted on stretchers. The elevation was so intense the entire crowd formed a massive line and escalated the stretcher to the top of the mountain to the ambulance

It was rowdy to say the least. The fearlessness/skill of the pros vs the amateurs is insane. See the below link with footage of both the amateurs and pros on the same rock garden. Also Friday night dudes were sending back flips off the step-up at the bottom

it was spectacular. And yeah, talk about a community coming together, the fire lines that we scrambled together worked perfectly! During practice the failure rate of that section was about 75% for the entire field!

I think your setup is the taller C4 bed rack. i'm looking at going with the bed bars that are a little shorter, although not sure on how much shorter since C4 doesn't list actual heights.

Oops, totally didn't see you linked to the bars.

You can see they mounted a pair under the rack I have in this pic. I need pretty much every inch of my rack to clear my saddle, so there is no friggin way you are gonna fit a bike under those mid-rails.

I think you're right. perhaps with the dropper post down i'd be okay? i'm trying to keep height to a minimum so I can still run my stand up paddleboards up top so the wife is happy, but high enough for me to bring my MTB so i'm happy.

I had to move one of the bars on my rack to clear my dropper. It just barely rubbed. Even with that extra inch of bed height you have over me, you're gonna be like 2 or 3 inches short. Unless you went to mid-bars and a hitch tray like @ripRavioli

welp shit, can't win em all. perhaps i'll go with lower bars to mount the RTT so we can still bring the SUPs and find a nice used hitch rack for the bikes. i'm in portland after all, CL is littered with them.

If you were to do hitch rack and aYakima Dr. Tray it might work for ya. not so much up and down but side to side and front to back. that Dr. Tray is adjustable so it works really well with different types of bikes but also sometimes can help with loads that are in the bed that you need to work around.

Damn, some McGyver stuff right there. Only thing I’d be worried about is side-loading. Pretty stiff?

Having dh bike and hardtail, I’m in need of a trail bike. A buddy is selling a 2010 giant trance xr for $200. Does anybody have any experience with the ride of this bike?

Do you mean Trance X4? Looks like pretty low end components on a fairly dated frame. What kind of hardtail are you on? might be worth spending that 200 upgrading your current rig. a proper hardtail can shred pretty hard.
