    Hello everyone,

I’m about to buy my first Tacoma/truck in the near future. I want the truck for camping/hunting/fishing. I’ve decided to go with the 2019 SR 4x4 V6. Now the only debate I’m struggling with is this right here in the picture. I want the quicksand color and would like a long bed but can probably do without it. I also want the double cab but DCSB SR is unavailable in quicksand according to the Toyota website. I want the long bed to sleep in while camping but I have this nagging feeling that I would regret not getting the double cab. The DCLB is not available for SR as well as I personally think they look kind of awkward/too long. I’m looking for a vehicle to own for the long-haul and would probably be happy with either. Any thoughts/comments that help with the decision would be much appreciated!

Edit: I guess this boils down to ACLB with preferred color vs DCSB with second choice color. No kids. Typically just me, occasionally one other passenger, rarely more than that.

Welcome aboard:hattip:. If you think you may regret not getting a DCLB then you most likely will regret it later on:(. I like mine and would not have it any other way:thumbsup:. I can't imagine having my daughter sitting in the cramped area of the access cab:angrygirl:.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

I love my access cab, but it’s not for everyone. I don’t have kids and rarely have more than one person riding with me. If you have kids, I would definitely say get the DCLB. If not, then the access cab is awesome (and better looking in my opinion ).

Like others have said, if you have kids or people who would ride in the back more then say once a week id go with the double cab, BUT otherwise I would absolutely go with the access cab in terms of looks, and function of the bed. I bought an access cab and I have 2 younger kids 4 and 10. Usually my wife (with the SUV) drives them to school ect but there are times when I need to use my truck and even a booster seat in the back is super cramped I had to put it behind the passenger side so I could move front the seat up far enough to fit "comfortably" .. If the 4 of us take my truck it feels cramped as heck and is only good for a short ride.. Its just a PITA.. BUT on the other hand I like having a usable bed.. Which is why I have a truck, to haul stuff when needed.. To me the short bed on a double cab inst much better then an SUV,.. But if you don't really use the bed other then some camping gear ect than that is no longer an issue.. My next truck pretty much has to be a double cab as my family gets older/bigger.. guess it comes down to what you really need (thinking long term)

I was in a similar situation color wise. I wanted TRD OR ACLB in cement and Toyota.com wouldn't let me configure it that way. I went to the dealership and they told me that some colors are only done at certain times. The paints are done in "runs". I ordered mine exactly how I wanted it but I have to wait for it to be built.

Did they give a time frame on how long your custom order would take?

I ordered on February 20th, and got my build date on February 22 that the build would start on March 29th with delivery in Mid April. So 6 to 8 weeks from the order being placed. I negotiated my price before hand but you may miss out any factory incentives when the truck actually shows up. I'd also shop around because any dealership can order the same truck.

Thanks for the info. What build/color did you end up ordering?

ACLB TRD OR 4X4 with Premium and Technology Package in Cement. I also scored some aftermarket Katskin Leather Seats due to a deal error. I'm by myself for 95% of the time and wanted a 6ft bed, plus we have an SUV for the family trips. I' drove the DCLB and it was just too long for me.

    none....yet
I would go DCSB in your situation, the double cab is so useful to me: you can bring friends or family places comfortably and also put larger things in a dry place (suitcases, electrical tools ect). The tonneau covers aren't 100% water proof. If you wanted the extra bed space you can always put the tail gate down and purchase a bed extender accessory to get that extra 1'.

I went DCLB in quicksand sport because I wanted the extra room and bed space, I have to say it has come in handy a few times with difficult deliveries for my company down some narrow dirt roads. 4 wheeling on the beach it gives me plenty of room for 2 friends + the wife and all the fishing gear, coolers, grills and anything else I want.

Definitely check into a dealer and see what they have, could be a 1 year old steal that fits your description that isn't in the website database, or something coming down the pipeline a salesperson could track down for you.
    Good luck on your purchase!

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I bought an access cab in 2007 but sold it for a double cab when we had kids. You will regret not getting the double cab.

I guess this is what I needed to hear. I can make the short bed work for my needs but sooner or later I’d regret not getting the double cab and would need to get one.
