So I see that the settlement covers up until 2010 Tacomas. What about 2011+? Did Toyota do something different so that the frame won't rust through, or are they just too new to start rusting and therefore aren't covered in the settlement?

Does it matter if you have a lift kit on your truck? I also cut my cab mounts hopefully they wouldn’t notice that lol

Not sure about Conn. In Pa.some dealers say liftedbis ok others not.
Maryland say no lift must be returned to stock.

New here so hopefully I’m not asking something that has been covered. Two years ago I helped my son buy a 2006 Tacoma, had 101k on it and looked very nice. The owner gave me the service records and he said one of them was to have the frame inspected. The receipt said it passed and they installed a CRC coating in mid 2014. Well today we were putting on some 2017 step bars and I noticed two significant holes in the frame! This got me to researching the web and found this thread. Does anyone know if they offer additional warranty if the dealer inspects and say’s its good but then large holes are found less than 5 years later? We felt good about it at the time we bought it and didn’t have a reason to check it again.
    Thanks

For the 2006, the time to make a claim was 12 years from the in service date as was detailed in one of the posts above. There was an extension to the warranty that came in via postcard from Toyota which extended the warranty until the end of January 2019. If you missed that date, you might want to contact Toyota or a local district rep. From past posts in this regard, individuals have not been successful making their case, but you never know...

Thank you for the response. The frustrating part is the previous owner said he had it inspected and the dealer found no issues. I didn’t think there was a need to have it inspected a second time. Clearly the frame coating cover up is just that, not a real fix and unfortunately I found out too late.

Perhaps the attorneys involved in the class action suit can help.

I found that link and sent them an email, I’ll pass along any response I receive.

I feel bad for my son, he saved and was really proud of the truck.

I have an 06 that my daughter drives. I bought it out of Wisconsin but the previous owner had it coated and inspected. Bought in Feb 18. Inspected by a dealer here in SC in May 18. Passed with flying colors. But there was a ton of surface rust. I got the post card in October. Didn't do anything until I read a post here in December about an issue with the frame. So I knocked on it to see what the sound was and a long crack opened up. Outrigger body mounts were rusted through, so off I go on 3 January for the inspection. After 4 weeks in the shop plus time waiting for a frame, it is now at home.
This doesn't help you though and for that I apologize.

Doubt the law firm will do anything. The order has been entered and they've been paid. Unless there is a contingency clause in the settlement.

Here is a pic of the damage we found. That’s a lot of rot in just over 4 yerars if it “passed” according to the dealer. And the coating clearly did nothing and might have even made it worse.41F094B5-5630-4086-89E3-2BA87120439D.jpg2F0FAB42-EFAC-4E4F-A24B-ED761CC1283A.jpg41F094B5-5630-4086-89E3-2BA87120439D.jpg2F0FAB42-EFAC-4E4F-A24B-ED761CC1283A.jpg2F0FAB42-EFAC-4E4F-A24B-ED761CC1283A.jpg

Pretty bad! Go through an appeal process and see what happens. It won't cost you anything!

Hey all looking for some frame replacement advice. Took my 07 in for frame replacement at Karl Malone in ut, they are telling me I need to pay to replace some brake parts because they are seized and it's not covered by the replacement. I thought I could get it handled with zero dollars out of pocket. Any experiences?

new steel brakes lines come with the new frame. If you have a seized caliper you will have to pay out of pocket.Ask to see seized parts b4 replacement. If ypo can get to dealership easily.

So when did all this frame mess come to an end as far as the year of the Tacoma?

Well I think they said it was where the brake line was attached to the caliper, they couldnt break it loose, so I would need to cover the new caliper. Same with the clutch line, they said they couldnt get it loose so I would need to replace it. I reached out to corporate and they said they would contact the dealership. All the verbiage I see says incidentals are covered, which to me, means stuff like this. They also said I have a broken transmission mount, which I have no problem replacing as it was broken independent of the frame.
