LOL was wondering if anyone noticed. I spent a fair bit of time for work in Texas. (El Paso, Houston, DFW, San Antonio, Hill Country, Waco, northern panhandle corner to Stratford) Have lots of pics, thought these would envoke a few memories/images of Texas for folks that live there.

It's kind of a hidden gem up there. When I was there last I hiked the whole trail, met a guy from Tennessee who married a lady drom Germany and saw a little acoustic concert in the pavilion. Great place to get away for a weekend.

Big Bend has some crazy weather. I once drove through 2 separate thunderstorms on the way in, had perfect weather all weekend, and then drove through another thunderstorm or two on the way out.

Outside Sweetwater. At one point, that area was the biggest wind power producing area in the world I think. Not sure if its been overtaken, but there is a silly number of turbines out there.

I think they are a very peaceful to watch for the energy they can make. thanks for the answer. Dang, had to google it, but they start after Sinton on 181 and go all the way to Gregory almost. No water.

I have mixed feelings on them. The technology is cool, they fail in spectacular ways (not just mechanical failures - sometimes the power electronics explode), and the energy is clean. But they're a maintenance nightmare, costly to build for the power they produce, and I'm not so sure what their lifetime is going to be. When I was a kid my family occasionally drove by an abandoned one in Galveston pretty regularly, what an eyesore. I hope we don't have thousands and thousands of those.

    Anyway.

Have to have faith in technology, just like you have faith in that photo! We are a learning species!
