I’m no expert. And i only get 87. But when my ‘17 was new, I got bad mpg’s and didn’t think I liked this new V6. I’m not sure modern engines need to break in either. But I’ve heard that the engine “learns” your habits and will improve. I was only getting 16 mpg’s until I took it on a weekend trip at about 5K miles. The road trip increased my mpg’s by a few. Now, at 30K miles, I easily get 18 i the city, 20 hwy and I feel like the shifting is better. All will the same 87 gas.

Ethanol is actually an octane booster. True story.

May have been driving with a heavy foot with the new truck too? But I love it.

I have yet to see where anyone has shown any, much less a significant, improvement in performance or mileage when using a higher octane in these trucks when in stock configuration. For most, I think the "improvement" in idle or performance is just in their heads as the perception that more expensive or higher octane must be better.

I try to use top tier gas in 87 octane.
