improvements with snorkel

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who installed a snorkel and how did it improve the performance of your 2.7, more specific an 04 2.7L tacoma

 

Why would a snorkel improve performance?

 

I guess you are talking about a snorkel for deep water? Might even hurt performance a little since it might impede air flow.

 

From the little bit of info I saw on this topic, it seemed as though the snorkel improved mileage a tad. I guess due to the pure cold air coming in from outside the engine bay. Then again, I'm always skeptical about what I read on the interweb.

 

yeah, like your abs module catching fire... happened on my friends '04 tacoma last weekend after some deep water exploration. snorkel didn't help much there heh...

 

I think that several members have had good results with the snorkels. They claim to get slightly better gas. I will do a search in a minute

This makes sense, I was thinking in terms of how it lengthens the run of your intake, not in terms of the air source.

 

yes however, cold air and more fuel require less throttle input for same amount of power. therefore you can see better power and fuel mileage.

 

Plus the snorkel looks goofy on a mall cruiser.
