What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I got mine from another member for 350.

 

Blew up a CV today. Going to get a new one in Thursday and hopefully order parts to make my rack for my camper shell.

 

Added a red gel filter to my Ultragauge and compass today.





Interior lighting is 99% done now. I just need to change the passenger side air bag indicator over to red and it’s done.

Looking good but the highlift on the bumper would bother me.

 

Wow that must feel a tad lighter!

 

That cv angle looks pretty extreme... thought DB lifts kept those angles pretty small.

 

Here’s a picture of it when it’s not broken... how bad do you think they are?

 

I've seen worse to be honest. Do you need that much preload?

 

I only have about 5-7 threads showing on my coilovers. So I don’t no how much lower I can go with the Kings.

 

I have almost no preload on the Kings. I just gave shock measurements to Micah at DSM when ordering. Maybe it’s the 700lb coils?

 

Might be worth it to drop it down more. Have you done the boot slide mod? That's the real issue with those angles - premature boot wear.

 

I have not. I will attempt the boot slide mod and I’ll go with only 1-2 threads showing. But I’m thinking I just got a weak axle.

 

Even with the Fabtech 6" DB lift you should have better angles than that honestly.

Not ready to cut, but wanted more clearance in the back. So, I slapped on this trail gear rear tube bumper. Works for now until I finally (may be) decide to go true high clearance.

 

Looks excessive. But hard to tell from that angle and fisheye. Jack it up so it’s full droop, turn the wheel to full lock, then rotate the tire. If the cv binds you need to remove preload, or lower your ride height somehow. It’ll save you from having to replace them so frequently.

Interesting for sure... Did you just recently install the kings?

I believe if that's the case they may need to just settle in a bit which will improve that CV angle. Still, I'd drop them down all the way - you're already lifted to the moon with that DB setup.

Long term, keeping them at that severe of an angle will be no bueno.
