Just curious when cruise works well for anyone? Mine can’t figure out a gear to hold worse than normal driving. Example from today, I had cruise set at 70 on the freeway, was holding 5th fine then came upon a slight incline, and I mean slight for a few hundred yards. Truck downshifted to 4th as it does with any incline or wind gust or any additional resistance, but the weird part was once it flattened out and even went downhill it decided it didn’t want to upshift. Went about 8 miles flat or slight decline and never decided to shift. I’ve never been impressed with the cruise on this truck as the lack of low end torque makes it downshift way too often to maintain speed. Anyone have any good experiences with cruise? Only time I could see it working well is on super flat land around 55 or 60. Any higher than that and wind resistance would cause it to downshift.

I use mine all the time. Yes sometimes it stay in the lower gear (usually 5th) until I reach a more level spot or slight downhill. Keep in mind the cruise is trying to keep your truck at the same speed without slowing down whereas just using your foot, there would be slight variations in speed when you come to a hill.

I just force mine to 5th when I see no reason to not upshift in its own. I think there is a TSB on it if you are a lucky person with a good dealer. I’m just going to deal with it and manually pop it into the right gear if flat.

I learned on here to use S mode, drive about 20 miles a day on interstate and the day I started using it my truck acted better and my mpg jumped up by 2 gal.

Yeah. I went back and changed the settings to not email every time there was a reply and it made 2 threads. The other can be deleted. My bad.
