Take a good look at the Fallen Wildpeak AT3W. Performance, ride, price, looks. Great tire.

If you want a rugged look, I don't think you will be getting a better ride. Those lugs are going to make a little noise if nothing else.

That being said, I've had General Grabber AT2s for the last 60,000ish miles in 265/70R16 in a standard load rating.

Same size, barely louder than stock, rides great, not too expensive. If I weren't going to an MT and a larger size, I'd do those again.

Any other answer other than Falken Wildpeaks At3w is wrong.

Nothing beats their price/performance/looks and certainly the tire I am considering upgrading to unless someone can convince me of something better for the price, specially in the rain/looks department.

I’m a big fan of the Falken wildpeaks. This is the first time I’ve used them, and have less than 10k miles on this set but so far they are quiet and smooth as glass. Mine are

I went with Toyo AT2’s. Relatively inexpensive, damn near silent on the road and they bite-in surprisingly well in the muck. They also impressed me in the snow and slush.

Been using Destination AT as well. Had them on my full size prior to the Tacoma and have been happy with them. Little more aggressive but without much highway noise. Never had problems with uneven wear or balancing

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
My vote is for the falken wildpeaks. They are more rugged looking, quiet, and more capable tires in mud/snow than stock. Really everything you would want. There are other tires that look even more rugged, but from the AT class they are the best. When you go to MTs you will unavoidably have louder tires, some only slightly so but something to consider.

Also, the rating of your tire makes a big difference. C class tires will be quieter than E class. E class will be tougher and stiffer, resulting in a harsher ride, but better off road performance.

Local dealer here in FLA quoted me $169/tire for these installed. Think that's what I'll get. Thought about 255/75/17's but think 265/70/17's a better choice.

This seems to be the tire everyone is recommended but I have a question. Do the make them in 16s and do they rub since it’s a bigger tire than the stock tires on mine and what about vibrations in the steering wheel. Will that get worst?

They do, they won't rub. They won't vibrate. 265/75/16 is the largest size you can go without rubbing unless you get skinnies. There are threads for skinnies you can look at to research. They are also a good option if you want better performance in inclement weather. i.e rain/mud/snow. But your breaking and turning may be slightly affected. Read the threads to make an informed decision.

Been running Yokohama geolander ATS in 265 for 6 years. Great tire. Balance easy, no road noise, no wander and last a ton of miles.
The ATS is discontinued now, but they did replace it with something similar.

I went with the Nitto Terra Grapplers like mgaspard did. I did change out my rims to 18" but the overall tire size is just a little larger than stock (I have no lift).

Just had these installed, the Cooper Discoverer ATR XLT. These are probably the most aggressive looking AT I've seen lol. These are as close to an MT as you can get I think.

I've been eyeballing these models once my stock tires wear out. How have they been working for you personally?
