Had an all-around successful Kentucky Trip. My Daughter’s volleyball team played well in their tournament.

We went to Buffalo Trace and did their tour as a family on Friday morning. Tour was nice. They didn’t have any Eagle Rare or Blanton’s available, but they did have Colonel E. H. Taylor and Buffalo Trace available, along with their Weatley Vodka, White Dog Mash #1, and their bourbon cream. The tasting in order was Weatley Vodka, White Dog Mash #1, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, then Bourbon Cream. All were very tasty. I am not a vodka person, but Weatly Vodka was amazing, not harsh like normal vodka, almost sweat with a hint of vanilla. My wife and I ended up purchasing 2 bottles of Colonel E. H. Taylor, a bottle each of Buffalo Trace, Weatley Vodka, White Dog Mash #1, and Bourbon Cream. Also got my daughter a 6 pack of good Root Beer.

During the tour, we went into their bottling room where they were bottling up some Blanton’s. Found out some information. 6 bottles per case, every other bottle will be put in a nice bag and then in a box, the other 3 will be put in that plastic mesh, then staggered in the case. The reason for this is to save money. In the bottling room they had a nice locked glass cabinet filled with some of their best bourbon. See picture. I was very jealous.

I ended up spending some time with the tour guide after the tour discussing bourbons and such. He suggested I check out a liquor store called Evergreen Liquors in Louisville. We went there after the tour, they actually had 1 bottle of Blanton’s left. They had it hidden in the back, just had to ask for it. I also picked up a bottle of Willett which I have never seen in Ohio before along with a store barrel pick of Knob Creek 120. I stopped at a few other liquor stores as was unable to find any Eagle Rare or any more Blanton’s.

My Daughter with cases of Blanton's being Bottled and boxed up.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the info. Buffalo Trace will be about an hour from where we will be setting up shop, but I hope to convince the crew to make the trip. I think it'd be a lot of fun.

Also really wanting to get to the Heaven Hill distillery to get some gift shop only Elijah Craig "grenades".

Eagle Rare must be more difficult to get than I realize, the liquor stores by me have had them every time I've gone in.

The tour guide said that they usually have Eagle Rare available once a week or so and Blanton's less then that.

    My thoughts?
It's not bad, but it's not my favorite especially at $75 a bottle. I can by Booker's and when I can find it Blanton's at that price.
To me 4 Roses Single Barrel, McKenna BiB, Eagle Rare, 1792 BiB and Russel's are better at about half the price.
I do like the bottle. As you can see from my original pic my infinity bottle is over half full. I'm going to probably use it as another infinity bottle maybe one for Scotch and one for Bourbon. As I have found that pouring even a small amount of Scotch in my original infinity bottle makes the whole bottle taste like scotch.

If they would just let me have the key to that case, I think I would move in and pay rent!

Interesting that they have all the antiques except William Larue Weller. I would think they would know how to get a hold of it...

It's a liqueur and similar to Bailey's, but more bourbon-y. Pure deliciousness by itself, in coffee, or over ice cream.

Ever had a bourbon milkshake? Ugh, to die for. Put the pulp fiction 5 dollar shake to shame

Pretty damn lucky to get those bottles at very close to MSRP! Did you just walk in and there they were or what? I want details!

I've won the opportunity to buy a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle twice. The first time, it was for the honor of buying it for $130. The second time I got it for $90. I have yet to have the fortune of buying a George T Stagg.

I've already acquired my absolute most coveted bottle (Booker's Rye a month or so ago), but if there is another bottle that I'd love to eventually get my hands on, it is a George T Stagg.

    Congrats on the great score!

Need to buy another bottle of Bourbon Cream. This is already about killed and I haven't found the blender, yet.

    Sounds delicious, though.

Here's the beauty part, it's not the cream. It's a proper milkshake with bourbon straight.
