I'll step up and apologize for us Californian's as it isn't our best and brightest that flee from California.

I'd argue your best and brightest are the ones fleeing...

True, remember that government is made up of people, so might be more accurate to say that "people by design are self serving".

Hey, where does that leave me? :D All of the people that I have personally known (not many by the way) that fled California, simply couldn't make it work here and gave up. That doesn't feel best and brightest to me.

I lived in CA multiple times. I left (again) because my job was willing to send me 3 places, but I would be payed the same no matter where I went. Between the cumulative taxes, fees, and cost of living, the cost of living is like 2-2.5X Salt Lake City. That was a no-brainer for me. Plus I shed about 2.5 million of my closest neighbors leaving LA. The surfing in Utah is pretty terrible though...

According to a recent poll over 56% of Californians are or would consider leave the state. I love Cali but it’s swirling the toilet bowl

I've been through Salt Lake City a couple of times, seems very nice. I mostly stop short in Wendover for Speedweek. :)

I can relate to the job thing. I've had my share of "issues" that way. I ended up starting my own company, so I get to be the boss. :) Also, get to provide great paying jobs to great people.

That's about the only decent time to visit Wendover! Along with World of Speed. I was super amazed at how they just let you pull up and stand right next to cars on the start line.

Met these cool a hell legit overlanders from Belgium. One had a smaller Mercedes truck, and one had a massive MAN truck based vehicle.

Haha! Swirling toilet bowl...I haven't noticed that. Most (maybe 2/3'rd or more?) people are packed in two places in California. I have only lived in other parts of the state. Most of the state is conservative, rural and salt of the earth. I find most "out of stater's" think LA or Bay Area when they think California. Those places are only a part of California.

As far at that poll, while I love California, I would consider leaving if I could find my way to Kauai Hawaii. More true liberal there like I prefer. Yes, I would consider leaving California cause it can be a bit conservative for my personal tastes. :D Not sure that poll is a criticism of California, might get the same results in all states.

EDIT: JCOOR what are you doing to improve California?
