Well, I bought this truck almost a month ago in almost perfect condition. I drove 3 hours one way to get it. I grew up and have always been a die hard Ford guy - but have actually really been liking this Toyota and have been enjoying it.

Today I got rear ended... thankfully it isn't to bad and the other drive was not hurt. But here is the damage -

I know their insurance will cover the obvious damage, but I'm really concerned about all the little scratches on my tailgate that weren't there this morning before I got hit - and there is a dent on my passanger door now that wasn't there before either. Thankfully she accepted all responsibility and told her insurance company the same thing.

Hope I don't forget to mail off that first payment tomorrow... sheesh.

That sucks but I'm glad you were not hurt. I had the same thing happen to my Ranger years ago. The pain and anger fade over time :)

LOL yeah sorry man. Murphy's law I guess. I owned mine for 6 months before it got hail damaged. And no one ever remembers hail that big up here. Guess God was just waiting for me to buy new. He likes that sort of joke.

That sucks man. I got rear ended 2 weeks to the day after I got mine and still had a month before the first payment was due. The receiver hitched saved me from having any damage though.... Which was lucky for me because they took off as I went to pull over and check for damage. I still get paraniod when a car comes up behind me to fast now.

Get some insurance money from the person who hit you and buy a color matched or off road bumper. You'r better off then me. One week after i made my first payment some asshole kid at a motox race threw a rock into the side of my truck. Big dent right on the c-pillar. I had to pay for it because i didn't catch who did it :(

Same for me regarding receiver hitch...got rear ended in my Montero Sport by an Expedition...knocking me into a Jeep Cherokee. The Expedition by far looked the worst...my receiver hitch went right through her grill. I was wearing a suit on my way to give a presentation when she hit me...coffee flew all over me and my interior...took months to get totally out.

She apoligized, accepted responsibility, etc. Got home, called her insurance company...her policy was cancelled due to lack of payment the day before she hit me. She said she would pay out of pocket and then she disappeared for good. Insurance laws need to be stricter.

I've been rearended twice in my Taco. Thankfully, I have kept my trailer ball on, and that took the hit, leaving my Taco undamaged. I can't say the same for the bumpers of the people who hit me. They were destroyed.

I think so to. The LEO that responded said that the guy who hit me probably didn't have insurance or had a couple of drinks and thats why they took off. But karma will catch up to them. It always comes around.

The next day after I got hit I went and bought a ball hitch and lock to go on mine. So next time if I get hit it will be easier to find them. lol

So far I'm still waiting on the adjuster to contact me so I can get my truck into the shop. One thing I'm wondering about - has anyone here done a diminished-value claim? I'm not trying to take them to the cleaners; but this truck was in mint condition, no accidents, perfect maintenance record before it was hit yesterday. Now it is going to have an accident on its Car Fax and that will have an effect on its value. So -am I crazy or do I have a leg to stand on?
