Yep. My understanding is there is some mirror with the correct hinge that supports the tech package and that is the one being offered in option 2.

At least I hope I'm right, since my truck is premium w/ tech! @KTJO 4x4 can correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I believe for option 2 both the non-tech and tech mirrors are available. At least that’s how I interpreted her email.

 

Yes. They are both available. Option 2 is a little more because I have to convert BSM mirror without being sent a BSM Mirror so that is why that is more expensive but it is still available. I actually already have one built

 

So there isn’t an issue for (option 1) 4Runner just the Tacoma?

 

As of right now, I will be having my tester this weekend. Better have your fingers crossed but I do not believe so. I have seen 4Runner OEM Hinges and they have been fine. I have a 2019 opening up theirs this weekend just to verify again, but I believe you guys are good. You can always verify with yours if you’d like too.

This is correct. The Tacoma hinges are all over the place. So far I haven’t had one 4Runner person make a comment about his hinges

I have BSM mirrors currently on my 2017 taco and won’t be needing them as I swapped out my rear bumper and can’t use the BSM. If you have something built tgat will work for my truck I can send you mine.

What's this mean for the next stage with auto tilt reverse?!

Well I would assume that is all done by the Adjustment Actuator itself p, so as long as you swap the Adjustment Actuator as well, that should go along with the mirror as well. Which, is a must when converting the BSM. I’d have to do one and see.

 

It probably needs a 12v signal from the reverse also to make it work, if it even has that functionality. I have no clue what controls the mirrors on my wifes Lexus to go down in reverse. It could be the memory option controlling it.

 

UPDATES:

First and foremost, I would like to give a big shout out and a big thanks to @Braves95 who is helping me with the 4Runner side of things! Today was Day 1 of his install for me with the DIY Kit I sent him this past week. I had asked him if he would be interested in being my Guinie Pig and providing me some pics for my Installation Instruction Guide that I would like to provide to the 4Runner Members. Here are some things we discovered:

1. Although there are a lot of similarities between the Tacoma and the 4Runner, there were also a lot of minor tweaks here and there from Toyota that I will make sure to note in each of the guides. For example, 4Runners, when removing door panels, you have a light on the bottom that you must remember to disconnect. Otherwise, that could be very bad news. Both have hidden screws in the panel that you need to remove in order to take the door panel off. Mirrors are both held on with a tab as well that you must release after you remove the three nuts in order to remove your side mirrors from the vehicle. But, two of the biggest things we discovered today was: one, the 4Runner hinges DO come with the 3 holes that are needed for the Powerfolding Motors and two, the 4Runner OEM Adjuster Actuator WILL NOT work with the New Connection Plate and the Power Folding Motors. Although I mentioned before to make sure your OEM Adjustment Actuators were white instead of the Black ones, I did not know that Toyota makes Adjuster Actuators in the 4Runners that are Whitein the front but Black in the Back! I mean really!?! So...I will be reaching out to my guy on Monday to see what I can do about getting that added to the 4Runner Package. It could be something as in I swap parts from mirrors that I have as well from OEM Tacoma that aren’t able to be used, and I use them for that. However, I’m hopeful that my guy will be able to work so,etching out for this. Until next weekend for out next update with this install process.
2. As for when these kits will start to be built I am waiting on the last box to be shipped. I was give a Week last week so I will be checking in on Monday again to see if the parts did in fact come in and are ready to ship yet. Once I receive them, I will start this process and get these out to everyone. I cannot wait to get these going. I’m so excited.
3. I want Tacoma Members to know I’m not giving up on the DIY package and I will find a way. I just don’t have a solution yet. Since I finally have my truck back, I will be removing my own mirrors and taking them apart and figuring out what exactly needs to be done to make this happen. We will find an answer! I doubt it will be this batch but I will not stop until I find one!

I have not started yet but I’m hoping to start making these at the end of this week and start shipping them out starting March 25th. Depending on if I hear from @elnip today, I could have two packages available. Let me know ASAP!
