I put in all Kicker speakers in my truck. It sounds ok, but not as good as what I thought it would. Do the door speaker baffles make much of a difference? If so, I will grab some and install

The baffles aren’t worth it personally.

Sound deadening material is. That’s pretty much universally agreed.

To me, fast rings are also worth it. Some will disagree. All ears are different.

But sound deadening is probably the best thing you can do

I’m running Kicker and I’d put them against anything for the same dollar.

The kicker yellow labels are meh, but they’re meant to be stock upgrades and nothing more.

That $250 upgrade is what I like to call web forum mob-think. If you like music, like really like it, not as background noise, it isn't a big upgrade.

Yeah, you gotta get the real kickers - ks series at a minimum, QS for the SQ...

I almost did too (well 2/3 fell in to it). I had some woofer drivers kicking around and used them for my front doors. That $250 deal has 8 tweeters in it. 8 tweeters!!!

I got those foam cup baffles for my speakers, but I cut out the bottom half of them (sounds like trash if you dont) But I got them to keep water from dripping onto my speakers.

I did this when installing door speakers in my 06 Miata. The full baffles just strangled the bass. Cut the bottom out and it made an immediate difference.

Yeah, I did without cutting first, it sounded very boomy and no bass.

So I have sound deadener, and was going to do MDF cutouts instead of the plastic housing, anyone else try this?

Should I get the plastic inserts to shape the MDF from them? Or is it pretty universal fit when doing this?

If your making them from MDF, use the factory speakers as the template. But really the plastic adapters are just fine to use.

MDF is a poor material for doors. Once it gets wet, it's game over. HDPE cutting boards work well for this, are a lot less nasty to work with, can be reasonably thin & still be stiff, and are impervious to most anything they'll encounter in a door. It'll cost you less too and is more forgiving regarding mistakes. And you should be able to pick some up almost anywhere 24/7. I've cut these inside the house before. Wouldn't do that with MDF.
