Thanks, I ordered the Maximo 602 for the rear, going to order the 692s. How did you go about getting crutchfield to comp the adapter ring?

When I ordered the mounting plates, I got the closest to 50 mm
I did the live chat with them. They put it all in my cart for me.

Well, I know I said I wasn't going to do anything for a while, but I got tired of my Entune unit. After testing and research, I purchased a Kenwood DMX905S.

    YAy!

Are you going with the Maestro option? Curious because if you do, let me know if the phone button on the steering wheel functions. All of my buttons work except the phone button, that's with the Crux harness.

    *Edit*
Also since you'll have 2 usb ports now I recommend either of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2SF64E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079FSN3HT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought both, put the dash one in but need to remove it since I ordered Clazzios and need the slot for the heater button. Im going to use the 2nd option to drill a hole through the console box. Theyre both nice though.

I have the USB parts ready to go.. my issue right now is I will have a blank in the dash where the camera button was for on demand camera, as the head unit does it itself as well. Guess I need moar lights.

I don't have one. It's on my list for this project though, I just haven't bought one yet....

@elduder did you do a brake bypass? Did you buy the little resister unit to do it?

Yes. Initially I grounded the brake wire as I've seen done before, but then read some people saying the units have been updated due to the manufacturers finding this out and they need an initial 12v signal. The resister connects the ground, break, and remote 12v from the HU to fix that. I figured it was better to spend the $12 and do it 1 time instead of hoping the old school method still worked.

Yeah, that's what I did on the pioneer I had. I'm doing the same thing on this one (the little resister thing). Everything should be n this week. I need to get my workbench cleaned up and ready to go. Got a roll of tessa tape to make the harnesses look nice and clean.

The following posts are going to be process and updates of progress for the install of the Kenwood DMX905S. They will most likely be duplicated in head unit replace thread I created in the audio section.

For prep work, last night I removed the Beat-Sonic CS6EP unit from my truck. This plug and play unit worked very well however, the DMX905S comes with 2 camera inputs, and they are both "on demand" as well as the rear camera turning on when truck is put in reverse.

I also removed the dual USB from the glove box, the splitter from the OEM input, and put the OEM USB back in the dash panel. Because I can listen to the iPod via AirPlay, I will be storing it in my armrest console, plugged into the USB outlet I installed in there, and will have my micro thumb drive plugged into the OEM USB spot.

The following items come in today:

    E-Brake Bypass
    Maestro HRN-RR-TO2
    Stinger RCA cables
    Maestro ADS-MRR
    Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter
    Kenwood Excelon DMX905S

I'll start my capping and soldering tonight using this notes page I made to put up on my work bench

Currently, my rear speakers are powered by my amp (Arc Audio xDI 850.5) via a wire harness that plugs into the OEM wiring. In order to continue using the OEM wiring for those speakers, I will need to solder the speaker wires coming from the amp for the rears to the Maestro wire harness (circled in yellow).

The soldering will not be completed tonight, as I am still waiting for new speaker wire for the rears, as well as new remote turn on wire.

I'm hoping to do the actual install either Saturday or Sunday.

I also purchased a new tool for setting my gains on the amp. In the past, I used a DSO Mini-Oscilloscope to set my gains in a safe and responsible manner. I've decided that I want a PHD set up (push here dummy), and ordered a Steven Meade Designs DD-1 distortion detector to make this process more painless, and because it will get a lot of use (my kid's cars will be getting carplay/android auto when they purchase, as well as my cousins will be using it as well).

I will probably be doing a little more clean up with my previous install in the truck as well (tons of extra wire in there that can be shortened).

Got started tonight. I have a few things left for this but need speaker wire and sub remote wire to come in.

    What I started with tonight

    What I got done

    IMG_20190312_183626.jpg

Waiting on a couple of answers about some wires on the Maestro side, as well as one on the Kenwood side that don't seem to have homes.

More coming in tomorrow, but I don't think I'm getting the wires in that I need in order to get this installed over the weekend.

That one, the blue/yellow, the yellow black. I'm all sorted out now. I didn't realize I needed wires from the RR unit as well as the TO2 harness LOL.

Also, how did I ever live without Tessa tape. That stuff is fantastic.

Yep, kind of bad, but kind of want to keep smelling it.
