Nope, just find it funny that the moment drop bracket is mentioned the inquiring party is seen as some kind of bottom dweller. Makes zero sense in my mind.

@Tacoaric is right. In the full-size world, at least the one I formerly resided in, drop brackets are seen as “proper lifts” and anything else is just an attempt to level the truck. Somewhat different here in TW.

To each their own though. Not bashing the guys with UCAs and extended coilovers, as that’s what they want. Seems improper to deem someone incapable of thinking like a human if they want a drop bracket lift.

    Regardless. Have fun with it.

Yes. It is surreal, The amount of people that foam at the mouth and repeat “bilstein and coils”. I consider a real lift something that was properly engineered and fab’d taking into consideration pinion, instant center, anti squat etc angles, while maintaining a wider than higher stance, with more travel. This is something I’m not gonna do with my 3rd gen, because it’s impossible to do without mutilating the original design, which is better than I could make it even if I tried my best. I did that with my 1st gen, and while it was fun, and it is a cool truck... it became a Frankenstein. I will say that when I mention or reference a proper lift, I’m pointing at the high speed off road community. At no point in my life would I ever consider a full size forum to be credible in the lift department, considering that full size trucks typically are lifted for looks and seldom taken into the dirt, spec built trophy trucks excluded. I would put my Tacoma up against any full size lifted with an “out of the box” lift any day of the week on trails or track.

I think we look for similar criteria in our rides, you still got the first gen? Nice on bringing back the avatar...I missed bozo for a minute. :D

Lifts like fabtech and BDS do advertise their stuff can be wheeled, although I question stuff like that when their rear option is simply to place blocks under the springs and sometimes spacers over the coils. Ideally you are creating a component where it didn't exist before and now can possibly be another thing to break, yet does jack shit in terms of suspension. When I had my trusty first gen, all my friends at the time had full size rigs with high lifts on them. I didn't know it at the time, but all of us had probably the most unfunctional set ups out there for anything other than cruising in sand at the beach or going mud bogging. Not to say that cruising in sand cant be fun as the best coast guys do it all the time, but our crew had trouble going faster than 15 mph if it wasn't on road.

I would bet they likely exist, but I would love to see a real full size that gets wheeled and is built for it. IMO the full size community is the epitome of what "malling" looks like. Honestly though, I can agree with where you are coming from in terms of lifts as folks ask me all the time what "lift" I have. I always tell them its not a "lift," but suspension upgrade.

Well it does increase the probability of rollover, so there is that advantage.

A full size on the trails? I hardly liked taking my JKUR out because of its size. I’ve never seen a Trail big enough for a built full-size out here.

For some reason I totally had you pegged on the west coast. Im guessing either FL or VA.

Yeah... I moved across the country. For work related things. Matter fact I drove that very 01, so it has sentimental value. It’s been all over.

I also have a 6in rough country lift. What is your caster. I just ordered jba ucas to make my highway stability better and it's hard finding 6in lift threads on here. I need alignment numbers for 6in lifts.

Interesting, your caster is really low how does it handle on the highway? I've been told to try and get caster between 3-4°. Mine is at 2.3 now with factory ucas and the bump steer and wondering on the interstate is pretty bad.

It's never really bothered me enough to look into it but it does move around quite a bit and bumps pull it, but again it hadn't bothered me much. I just figured being lifted 6" with some 34x11.5 tires did that haha

I got use to mine as well and thought the same, I'm on Cooper sst pro 33s and 6in. It wasn't until my truck was in the shop and I was driving a rental for a week that I realized when I got my truck back it's pretty wild on the interstate. More caster will fix that and eliminate the bump steer. The high caster ucas should be in this week il throw them on this weekend and have an alignment shop aim for 4° caster and 0° toe, 0° camber

An update after you get those in would be awesome, I don't think I will swap out ucas again after the pain it was the first time but it would be worth it to ask a shop to push the caster up if possible.
