Same I need to step up my computer audio lol. If I can feed everything via optical cable to the speakers be nice.

 

I haven't heard Jailbreak in a while, doesn't make it to the local Classic Rock station setlist much

 

i have optical to my harmon kardon stereo. polk LSI9s with a 8" sony sub for now... works fine

 

That'll do. Thanks. I'll order it from crutchfield. I haven't installed a stereo since high school lol. I believe they offer an option for a pre-wired system to factory harness.

Probably Pioneer hasn't changed their harness pinout in a long time. But it also takes like 15 mins with the metra adapter to solder together too

 

crutchfeild will ship it with all the stuff to connect to your truck. you just need to connect the adapter harness to the radio harness (labeled), stupid simple. just use crimp connections and heatshrink.. i use to solder. but it just doesnt seem to hold up as well (hell toyota stresses to us to use crimp connections to repair harnesses)

 

Might need your help on setup lol. Still need to buy those Audeze lcd-x lol

 

help with what though? if you need a headphone amp just get a emotiva

huh.. neat. nice and clean too.. im going to order a bunch of the pins from corsa-technica so i can make clean harnesses like that for the taco... cant stand crimp connectors allover my harnesses anymore

I usually just make em, I have tons of the connectors lying around from stereos I've taken out of friends cars when they wanted a new one. Something low gauge and low voltage like this I'll solder, comes out clean and a soldered linemans slice won't break or crack on two flexible conductors. But I see where you and Toyota are coming from on the crimp repairs, and those generally hold up great too especially the crimp and seal butt connectors. I also only crimp large gauge wires. Solder cracking and cold joints are much more of a possibility with those.

 

big thing with a crimp, when done right is a mechanical weld. nothing wrong with solder. just the vibrations in some parts of the cars dont lend well to the longevity of solder

Yeah, when you have the really nice crimp ferrules it does come out like a perfect weld. I cut one of my power cable crimps once and was impressed how well that lug compressed the copper

I imagine its the same thing as what they try to upsell you on - a few bucks more. then again, after tires, UCAs and alignment, yeah - its starting to add up

And it never ends. Though a stereo harness is hardly gonna break the bank, slightly more than half of what they charge you to make it is what the materials cost.
