A cool idea for the @state48overland crew if they want to get out and do some wheeling would be to head out FR4 Telegraph Canyon RD https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1640-telegraph-canyon-road in the next few weeks and restock the hiker box where the AZ Trail comes through at 33.217798, -111.148021 This would be more of advanced run armor needed and body damage likely on stock rigs otherwise I would head out there. All the current reports are road took a beating in the fall rains and only people that currently service the hiker box are a local jeep rock crawling club. That box often gets depleted by mountain bikers and others stealing water supply left for AZT Users.

 

What passages on the AZT were you helping out? Looks like down in the Santa Rita's. I have a long weekend at the end of the month and was looking for some hiking/camping new. If you guys are doing this again some time soon let me know, I can fill my truck up with some goodies!

 

That was 3.8 miles into Passage 5. My upcoming plans are going to be a day trip to Rogers Trough in the Superstitions, Overnighter on 4 peaks near Pigeon Spring TH and a few day trips to FR393 in Sunflower. Basically following them northbound. Still a good number of folks starting prior to 04/01. There is some great hiking and camping down there. I'll PM you a couple epic spots to camp and hike nearby that I dont want to get out to the public too much.

 

It would be appreciated! Let me know the days of some of your day trips, if I can make it and help out I will.

 

Still working on the other days. I have a FB friend that is set up on the Freeman RD TH near Dudleyville doing trail magic for 2 months there out of his camper. He is going to message me when a decent sized group comes through on a M-W and then I will head up to Rogers that weekend to great them as some should be rolling through on a saturday if they've been averaging close to 20 miles per day through the low desert sections.

Unless I'm missing it isn't that a pretty tame trail? I think I've done it but its been years ago. I can understand the rain beating up the road but where would the body damage come from?

 

Last I have heard from AZT regulars is some big boulders made their way down into some of the wash sections thus making it much more difficult. Looking at the map it looks easy as well but almost everyone has said they ended up parking and walking in or jumped in passing modified jeeps. I think it is easy most of the way but 1 or two sections got really hammered with boulder slides or other erosion. I am still tempted to go check it out. I would feel a lot better about driving 90+ min to get there if I could actually hike on my ankle. I would hate to make the trip only to find out everyone was correct about how bad it is currently and turning around.

So I'm cheap lazy and don't feel like buying another t4r 17 inch pro wheel and matching tire for a spare. How dumb or safe would it be to replace the stock spare with a 265/75/16 vs 265/70r17. Seems like the specs are so close that getting me home in a pinch would work much better than the stock tire that is currently under the truck.

 

Picture a tire with 2/32 tread left and that's MORE of a difference than what you are looking at. Absolutely no issue my man!

The north is dangerously low on tacos.

 

The doggos are not trustworthy off leash and I've been trying to think of a way I can bring them with me for car camping or my trail magic day trips and not have to worry about holding their leashes all day

Gonna try getting two 50ft things of paracord tying each end into carabiners and attaching to their leashes then either anchoring into a ground stake or to the recovery shackle hitch. Figure that set up would be light enough they could run around a bit but still secured to a small area

 

As long as there's not a clearance issue with brakes, your good.

 

Good idea other than they will for sure get tangled up in the first 2min. I’d give them no more than 20’ and at that you’ll still be untangling them constantly.

 

It’s got the rare small v8. But I don’t see anything substantial about it. Shocked it blue books so low. Makes me wonder what mine is.

 

Started slowly getting the carpet fitted to the Z. Long process because I don't want to cut too much and have to start over again. My truck was keeping an eye on the progress.

 

nice work! doing mine this weekend. any tips for cutting? I was going to X cut all the holes.. then cut away around the shifter. my interior/floor is pretty basic, with no center console.
