Yes, but extended travel are longer so theoretically you will bottom out the shock more because more shaft is stored inside the shock body on stock leafs right?

Keep in mind the stock TRD OR springs are 700lb

Yeah I guess I misspoke saying it has nothing to do with it, just that it's not necessarily the only thing changing your collapsed length.

    For instance rod ends...
    [IMG] [IMG]

But yeah a larger travel length will start to lead to larger collapsed lengths, through the obvious necessity of the shaft being longer. However there are 10" travel shocks that are 14.22" collapsed (Bilstein 5160) and there are 8.5" travel shocks that are 14.65" collapsed (Fox 2.5 standard) so above and beyond the obvious limitation it is not always a perfect equation of travel to length...

Which is why I was looking for the collapsed lengths in the first place.;)

Yeah those should work. 3.0 diameter, flat-ended springs work on 2.5 coilovers. If they aren't over priced, it's a nice spring. The TRD coils are made by Eibach, who also makes all the silver springs on ADS coilovers.

Went ahead and got them. Should work just fine. And got a pretty good deal on them so i didnt want to miss it. Ive got the lift itch and now just waiting on the coils. The 600lb coils that i have just arent going to be enough for what im trying to achieve. Thank you for

Not many people realize the stock TRD OR coils are 700# because the 3rd gen Tacoma front end is 300lbs heavier than the 2nd gen

I think the 650s will work perfect for my goals. And I feel 700lb will ride to stiff on my 2nd gen. I plan on building a hybrid front so no need 700s as of now

If you are outfitting a 2nd gen then yes I would agree

It's partially the picture angle, driveway angle, conservative lift up front, and the truck bed is completely empty in this picture and the spare also wasn't attached. But yes, she's definitely arching her back in this pic.

Before my shocks get installed, could somebody help me with the following?

2nd gen with ~150 lbs up front (winch, winch bumper, skid,...). I'm looking for a solid 2.5" of lift.

What do ADS come preset as?
How much lift does each thread equate to..... roughly?

Advice to how many threads I should set it at?

    Gracias.

    edit: 650 lb coils

From what I read on 2nd gens, 650 lb spring sound like a good option. 3rd gens carry more nose weight and fair better with the 700 lbs springs (which is what I'm using). Rule of thumb that I used was 1" of thread = 2" of lift. It's not an exact science, but I got the end result that I wanted. I carry about from 115 lbs from winch + bumper combo. I didn't bother measuring the shipped preload, just because it wasn't going to be relevant for me.

I’m running 135lbs up front and run the 700#’ers. They settle well after 1000 miles. Keep in mind the stock springs on the OR are 700# and the 3rd gen Tacoma front end weighs 300#’s more than the 2nd gen stock

They come from ADS preset at 3/16” on the driver and 1/4” on the passenger (approx)

To get 2.5” with that much weight you will probably need about 1.5” of threads. Keep min mind the more preload you do the stiffer and less responsive the ride will be.

I settled at 1” of threads (1.75” of front lift) and it rides great now that it’s settled
