I'm more of a center mass kinda guy. Go for what you know you can hit and hit it 3-5 times.

 

for sure, 2-3 in the chest vs maybe not hitting the head as someone's moving.

The military trains for center mass shots. Snipers are even trained to shoot center mass. Headshots are a Hollywood thing mostly.

 

My dogs are my alarm. Even when you think they cant see you, they can. They hear everything. Even when I try to block them from seeing...they still make it so they can see..

 

This! Always aim center mass and fire multiples. Not to mention, recoil from aiming center mass and firing multiples can easily end with a headshot. My mother lives alone in a highly populated area and I've taught her to start at the chest and empty the clip. Must say I feel much better knowing she is alone and packing (very accurate for an older feeble woman). Same with my wife, she grew up on a farm and hunted most of her life and I have no issues with her shooting/accuracy at all.

Im like you as well here too, my "home defense" is my AR15 with numerous clips and every attachment I feel that will make me deadly accurate and 100% confident in each shot. Also, most of your petty thieves are pussies so as soon as they hear me cock the AR they will bitch out and run.
