So long as the ladder deploys off the end I think it would work since it usually gives you ~48 inches from the hinge and the angle of the ladder would probably give another 8-12 inches... If it's one of the tents designed for use with an annex it will definitely fall short.

If rear facing, the ladder could go into the bed, right? Or would that be too slippery?

This was what I was going to suggest. Pretty sure alot of ladders have rubber feet which shouldn't slide too much.

I made the assumption the typical reason for the cab-mounted would be so that there can be stuff in the bed too but if there's no reason it wouldn't work with an empty or cleaned-up bed. The pivot is as the top so it's not going to slide anywhere assuming it's locked out.

Cool. Mounting it to a Prinsu. I like the cleaner look of a cab rack and security hard tonneau while driving - and while stopped. So considering my options.

I think the tonneau makes it more of a PITA because while you'd barely need the ladder for the tent, you'd have to climb onto the tonneau to get into the tent.

The ladder could rest between the bed and tailgate, or against the tailgate if you leave it closed. Then, you can just leave back part of the tonneau cover open. Most rtt have adjustable ladders. If you mount it this way post pictures. Thank you.

Anyone know a good way to dye the orange accents on this tent?

Not cab, but here's the bed. Don't think you're gonna clear the bed with a cab mounted one

Hence the sentence above the picture that says "Not Cab, but here's the bed"

Deploy it backwards over the bed, and have the ladder feet rest in the bed. If you have a telescoping ladder design, you'll be fine.

I have a Bed Rack RTT mounting question.

Are you all mounting it towards cab, middle of bed, closer to tailgate ?

Middle of the bed. My CVT Mt. Shasta is the same width/length as the bed when closed so I just center it and the bed bars front/back/left/right.

Forward of middle for me. But that's to clear my mountain bike bars and stuff plus the nature of my bed rack.

I think I will mount up close to cab since I won't need to worry about ladder getting in way of doors. I can keep cooler in the shade of the tent in bed too. Thanks for the input all. I'm stoked to get everything setup and go out on some fun trips!

Just a bunch of old crap
Cab height mounted front of bed center just over the cab for best balance (long bed). Best weight dispersion for your rear suspension by centering it over your back tires.

    20160402_075711.jpg

Going with something bigger, you're going to need a cab height rack so you can go over the cab a bit but not hang off over the tailgate and improperly support the tent. Also makes it really easy to get to your gear from all around the bed so you don't have to take everything out to get to it (ie. cooler).

Here is the rack I will be using.

I do have a long bed on stock suspension too. If I do end up tossing on 5100s & OME springs is it better to do an AAL and keep overload spring, or replace entire leaf pack with like a Dakar??

Granted I don't plan to run the tent/rack on the truck 24/7.

I think rack weight is 70lbs & tent is 125lbs approx.
