You list your truck as "stock". Should I assume this means the original Goodyear Adventure AT Kevlar tires?

Not stock tires, we are currently running Back Country Mud Terrain.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the 3rd gen and 2nd gen basically have the SAME cv axles? Toyota didn't change the design of the whole 4x4 drive train. Oh wait you have a Ford. Perfect for the flatlands. Why am I asking you? OP has stated she's used to the 1st gen. SIGNIFICANTLY lighter with LESS power. If someone is used to a under powered lighter system it could explain the operator error resulting in what we have here.

He has no idea. Think about it. You can pull the maneuver OP has explained in one vehicle, then try the same maneuver in a bigger heavier vehicle and not have the same results. I'm saying that the lighter, less powered vehicle could have floated across heavy snow with less bind. A heavier, more powered vehicle COULD explain how the system actually had more bind and would not float across the deep snow as easy. More weight, more bind, coupled with an inexperienced driver with more power can spell disaster. Maybe that is what we have here. Again the OP keeps referring to the old school 1st gen. Also, has admitted to having NO idea how to operate the 4x4 electrical system.

Again, I don't think most people have issues with snow in tacomas

Can you explain? Rather that just posting simple generic posts? Elaborate. We need details. Otherwise all it is, is bait.

    You triggered?

The second cv shaft put in my truck by Toyota, all the grease shot out of an in tact CV boot and the whole truck vibrated like it was on a rumble strip. Drove it straight to the ford dealership after that.

Ouch, pitch forks are lively in this thread.

I hate the nanny traction crap. I have one corner that typically has a little snow and the traction stuff grinds almost daily. Another intersection if I don’t switch to 4x4, when I take off the same grinding happens again.

I’ve thought about trying to permanently disable the system, but as a daily driver if anything ever happened, I don’t want to give the insurance companies anything to use against me.

Both. We both work fulltime outside the home. My husband took the month of February off to strictly hunt.

Yall should come hunt here. The Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex is overrun with bobcat, coyote, etc.

Freaking coyotes are now hunting the joggers.

Oh, and you don’t need 4x4 here. :D
