Which Floor Mats? (maybe the most boring thread ever)

I'm here in CO and we have some serious weather that gets dragged into the truck. I was about to knee-jerk purchase some WeatherTech mats, but I figured I'd ask here to see if there might be a better option. I used WT mats in my wife's Edge, but they struck me as a bit flimsy and did show wear sooner than I'd expect.

Any advice?

And yeah, I did search but there was just too much data (most irrelevant to this particular question) to really navigate and it spanned across all generations. Apologies if I'd missed a good thread on the subject.

 

I don’t have a 2nd gen but I have Husky liners on my 3rd gen. I just checked their website and it seems they make mats for a 2nd gen Tacoma as well. Quite pricey but well worth it, they go back far behind the pedals. On the side they go UNDER the door. Which means they go over the carpet on to the trim that holds the weather seal against the door. Might want to give those a look.

 

Husky also makes some good all weather mats, that "bucket" in dirt like the weathertechs. I feel like there is a little preference of one over the other, I cant remember which though.
Weathertechs are about $190 where huskys are about $155.
Also an offbrand called "3D Maxpider" on Amazon for about $130-150.

I have the Oem all weather mats, I like them, but if I lived in a state where there was a lot more bad weather, Id probaly go for the Huskys.

I waited for a discount and got the Husky. They were drop shipped from Husky. Cheaper and same guarantee as Weathertech.

I couldn't tell if these extend over the door sill. That's a must for me because it'd be easy to trap salty melting snow under the mat if not.

 

Idk had them in my corolla and loved them

 

WeatherTec is a little lighter and feels a bit more ''plasticy'. Husky is a bit heavier and feels more 'rubbery'.

I have WTs here in CO and have no complaints. But I have seen the Husky mats and they do seem to fit a bit better in the ones I have seen in a 2nd gen.

Buy one the color of the dirt you expect to track in.

 

Husky FTW. Less expensive, more expansive coverage. Lifetime warranty. Black color shows everything, grey shows little.

Amazon sometimes has open box for less. I've done that with a few vehicles, and they looked like new each time.

 

Go with weather tech and never look back

 

It is plastic you step on. Not much in the way of technological differences. I have Weathertech. They are better than OEM because the passenger side has a lip that keeps it from sliding forward all the time.

HUSKY HUSKY HUSKY because they have more coverage and better material and don't move around and easy to clean and cheaper than WT's.

 

I bought my weather techs used. Front and back for $75 I believe. Was a good deal and I like them. I wouldnt pay full boat for them though.

The huskys look nice and are competitively priced compared to the weatertech. If I had to buy new, it would probably be the husky .

 

+1 for weather techs. Have a set in front and back since the day I got my truck and they have stood up to constant abuse. Pull them out every couple of months and hose them off, super simple.
