Great White Taco build

I run maybe 1/2” of preload and my 700# springs feel nice, and I don’t have a winch. I have to apply 2” of preload to my 600# springs to get any kind of lift on the front end and then the ride is harsh.

Going to Philly on the 31st weekend. So plans just opened. I am not sure about camping, but @bajafresh wanted to go look for some trails

Take out all the preload. I think I saw @ilubtimmyhos had no preload on his and it was soo bouncy had me I'm assuming he is on 600# since no front diff

 

But will i lose my height?

Also, my bumper is ~110, winch is ~ 50-60, and skids are 3/16" with no reinforcement RCI.

 

Wouldn't you loose height with a 650 # spring unless you added more preload and made them stiffer?

 

Both springs are 14". Just different rates?

 

I'm no expert on springs but I'm think a 650# is going to lower the truck if you set it with the same preload as a 700# if both are 14 inches. I'm tired all this math is hurting my head

I would back that preload out and see if it improves before swapping out coils. I think lots of preload makes the little bumps and quick jolts unpleasant. You aren’t running a lot of preload but it wouldn’t hurt to try

 

You're correct that different spring rates will require different preload settings for the same ride height, but incorrect in how that affects ride quality.

Pre-load and spring length have no effect on ride quality until they become limiting factors (that is your shock can travel rather than the spring, or the spring is compressed to the point of contact between the coil). The spring rate, on the other hand, affects ride quality regardless of the preload applied (except for the previously mentioned edge cases).

 

I have very minimal preload. Maybe 2 rotations on the passenger side, and extra 2 or so on the drivers to compensate for weight. And yea, im running the stock 600# coils and seam to be fine. I am missing a few parts as you know.....

 

And if the front end is bouncy we can fix that with valving.

 

When we go run FlagPole we can see what you think. I love how it rides but if it can be better, im down. Not so much knowledge on the tuning of Kings

 

You make up for the parts you are missing with the few screws you have loose

 

I meant bouncy in a good way like he was using every inch of those kings. Very impressive how they handled the jumps!

I've only played in the shallow end of the shock valving pool, but after the changes I got with my rears it's definitely work diving into more.

 

I want to mess with my pressure up front, maybe drop it to 120 psi. My 700 coils are also a hair stiff for my liking and I have similar preload to David. Maybe add a flutter stack so the little bumps are super soft. I wanna do something up front. The ass end is a freaking cloud with the hammer hangers and a .008 (.08?) compression stack.

 

Hopefully that's a .008 rebound, and .018 compression. That's what I'm running, with a flutter shim, on the back. I need to take my fronts apart and put in flutter shims.

Shock PSI lets us fine-tune spring rate, so it's worth playing with in small increments, and you can definitely feel it when the spring rate is 'right'.
