Not a single thing in my opinion.

Of course "the family" in these situations often seems to cling to the belief that junior was such a perfect little angel and didn't do anything at all wrong or contribute to the end result.

Add in slimey lawyers, "community activists", and sensationalist media for a recipe where the agency has to act as if the LEO is guilty until proven innocent.

Defrocked priest accused of abusing teenage boys fatally shot in Nevada, police say

    2.jpg

A defrocked Roman Catholic priest who was among nearly 200 New Jersey priests facing accusations of sexual abuse was shot and killed in a Las Vegas suburb, officials said Tuesday.

John Capparelli, 70, was found dead Saturday inside the kitchen of his Henderson home with a gunshot wound to his neck, said Nicole Charlton, the Clark County Coroner’s Office medical examiner. Capparelli had moved into the $319,000 home in August 2016, according to property records.

Police believe Capparelli died amid “suspicious circumstances,” but authorities haven’t divulged details as to whether there’s a suspect in his death or if the killing had anything to do with the abuse allegations.

“Preliminary investigation indicates the victim died of suspicious circumstances, and the incident is being investigated as a homicide,” police said in a statement, according to NJ.com. “A suspect has not been identified at this time and police are following up on developed leads.”

Capparelli, who was included last month on a list of 180 priests facing abuse allegations as named by five New Jersey dioceses, was a math tutor for high school and college students.

Joann D’Angelo, a neighbor, told the Associated Press that Capparelli lived alone.

“He was a very quiet man,” she said. “He minded his own business.”

Capparelli was among the priests accused of groping and brutalizing teen boys in the 1970s and 1980s and was defrocked in 1992, according to an NJ.com report last month. He later worked as a public school math teacher in the Newark, N.J., School District but agreed to have his teaching licenses revoked in 2011 when the allegations first emerged.

Capparelli was also accused of running a website featuring young men wrestling in revealing bathing suits.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

How two brothers' road trip turned into a 12-hour border standoff

No IDs, an undocumented '70s Buick, and 21 jugs of gasoline

    https://www.autoblog.com/2019/03/13/brothers-road-trip-border-standoff/

"This was more stupid than it was criminal," a prosecutor told the judge. This referring to Damien and Bailey Roy's plan to drive from Nova Scotia to Mexico with no identification, in a 1967 Buick without license plates, carrying 21 jugs of gasoline. The adventure was over before it began, however, when the brothers triggered a standoff with authorities at the border of New Brunswick, Canada, and Maine. Oops.

Damien, 22, and Bailey, 21, thought they had it all figured out. According to The Washington Post, they loaded up a just-purchased undocumented 1967 Buick Skylark with many gallons of gas (in the trunk and backseat), with the intention of driving from Canada to Mexico without stopping at any U.S. gas stations. The brothers reportedly did not have any sort of identification, so using paper maps they planned to cross the border illegally on some backroad.

Instead, they still ended up at a major border crossing. CBC says officers approached the vehicle, but the brothers were completely unresponsive, staring straight ahead. (The brothers were frozen in fear and indecision, or then again, maybe they were stupified by all the gasoline fumes.) That's when officers glanced in back and noticed all those gas cans, leading to a 12-hour lockdown and all border traffic redirected, with officers suspecting a possible car-bomb terrorist attack. The brothers eventually gave themselves up after they were surrounded by drones, helicopters, an armored vehicle, dogs and SWAT officers.

According to The Post, both brothers were charged with "committing a hoax related to terrorist activity, and willfully obstructing peace officers." The terrorism hoax charges were later dropped, and the brothers pleaded guilty to obstruction. They were sentenced to three months in jail but with credit for time already served were allowed to walk.
