FWIW: I have ST Maxx now and they are sexy looking and work great in mud but: They pull and they are getting louder and they are much more expensive than the Wildpeak. I'm at 41,000 miles on my tires and I'm going to be going with Wildpeaks next.

Thats sweet, exactly the type of projects I would be using it for too. I just got a 20% super coupon and am considering using it for the welder. Glad you like it and suggest it makes me feel better. Watching reviews it seems like a pretty decent mid point between the vulcans and the 99$ welders. Thanks for the input!

True story, HOWEVER use this site, and search the part number. Normally they're $400 but I got it for $380 with a coupon. Just screen shot it on your phone and they'll scan it.

Picked up a winch the other day w/ the eBay 15% off sale. I have researched a bit all over the interwebz (even Jeep forums ) about wiring direct or having a cutoff switch.

It's like 50/50 on those who do and don't. Since this thread gets a lot of attention, I'll ask...thoughts? pro/cons? Maybe just get a big fuse for the terminal instead of a bulky ass switch?

Shoot, thanks for the link. I got one of those green 20% coupons in a off road magazine. I didnt see small print on it but I will have to double check. If it doesnt work I will use your link and watch for a usable one.

I’ve ran all my winches straight to the battery with no fuses, as it’d need a 400-500 amp fuse/breaker. I leave it in free spool mode so if it ever shorts out it won’t winch itself to total destruction.

Do you have any pictures of your truck? Your truck looks pretty good from the little picture.

I Plasti dips the Toyota emblem and added a TRD emblem to the front grill. I dontd think there TRD stands out. It gets lost in the grill. I will plasti dip the TRD letters red

I ordered this guy for my winch I picked up on the 15% off sale as well. It’s rated for 300A cont, 500A for 5 mins and 900A for 30seconds. I believe my winch (X20) has a max rating of 450-500A iirc.

I’ve seen lots of people running it both ways as well, but my biggest concern is the potential for a fire in a front end collision. A switch could absolutely prevent that possibility. It would suck to have your truck burn down because of the lack of a switch. These are just my thoughts.

A switch is a very good idea. I have a similar Blue Sea switch to install with my winch.

Alright, so just like my previous research....a 50/50 split haha!

I think I'm going to wire direct, and probably add a switch once I overhaul my electronics this summer (if I stop procrastinating that job)

Moar powar! Finished wiring switches for bed lights, 12V, and usb/voltage gauge. This weekend I'll run the wires back to the bed and install the six fuse panel in the cubby behind the cover.

Yea thats definitely wrong, lol I'm sure others have jumped on it and said something already. But I know that as long as you're not going over 62 mph, 4hi will engage. There's sometimes it may have an issue, that's when you'd need to stop, try again, or reverse for a few feet, or something along those line to actually get the gears to engage, I think someone posted a screenshot of that info in the manual somewhere a page or two ago.
