WTF is Car Play?

 

In NJ I use the WAZE more for traffic then for nav

 

My 09 has CarPlay. Jailbreak your phone, install Carbridge tweak and you can use your HU like an iPad with fully functioning web browser, YouTube, etc...

 

This Carbridge looks pretty good and you can run that through your HU without having to do anything to it?

 

Where's the picture from?

I just noticed in the lower part of the pic that the USB port cover doesn't have the aux input symbol anymore. Looks like they might take that away with the new radio. I never used it, so not a big deal to me, but others might not be happy about that.

Thinking about it, if they don't have the aux input anymore, hopefully they use the extra space then to put a second USB port there instead.

Phone integration for Apple fanboys and their vehicles. Andriod version is Andriod Auto.

Bot do the same thing, allow direct use of phone and some phone apps from the head unit.

Wonder if that can be switched into an older truck... (Still 3rd gen). Would love to have tactile buttons again

You're off your rocker mate, JBL make as fine a speaker as anyone else.

 

debatable. I guess I've just been spoiled by some pretty premium audio systems, jbl is sub par imo

 

Correct... the changes in functionality are entirely within your iPhone and get mirrored to your HU just like CarPlay. Some apps can be a little buggy with Carbridge since they’re not designed to run on a HU. Overall though it’s great to be able to pull up Safari or Instagram or whatever else when you’re stuck waiting around somewhere, or have YouTube up on the HU for your passenger to watch on a long drive.

 

I like the JBL in my Tacoma as well as its touch screen much better than more and more buttons...! Seems like going in reverse when everything new tech is going touch screen. Less buttons the better. If you like more buttons, buy a Ranger...they are in confusion abundance!
