Gmrs. Most people are using two ways, and a few have cb’s but there is always someone whose cb isn’t working.

Like Joe I want to get Ham, but it’s only because I can run on a gmrs frequency. Currently having a hard time sourcing a in vehicle gmrs system other than midland in the states.

If I get to have half the trips you have I'll be happy lol.[/QUOTE]

I've been very fortunate to see much of Canada and the company I work for has paid for much of it due to out of town work and a division in Edmonton.
There is much to see in this Great country of ours

Agreed. I have a number of trips on the “list”. Lots of miles going to be put on the taco. Just have to save up.

    I hope I get to.
Conflict is I want to see more of Canada and do more of road trips. Girlfriend just wants to go to Europe or fly everywhere.

I feel you can't see as much if all you do is rely on flights and what not

The issue isn't so much finding something as there's plenty on the market .The issue is they aren't legal without a license in Canada.

Ham is just easier to get and use for less money and legal bullshit

From my understanding unidrn has a gmrs only radio. Not uhf or the “ham”.

Ya they do . And I looked into it and talked with the governing body for comms .
They're too powerful and not allowed without a licensing fee yearly.

GMRS is illegal in Canada ?? Or specifically the in car units?? Found a bunch of the Midlands mtx models from Canadian sellers.

GMRS is legal but capped at 2 watts in Canada. US units can go up to 5 watts because they require licensing. So if you’re using a US unit over 2 watts it’s illegal because they use 2-5W for emergencies and most people just talk without listening, and may accidentally be distorting an important signal.

I have no real experience but apparently getting caught and fined for messing around with it illegally is more common than you would think.

Ya when I was talking to the guy he said it's a rather hefty fine and you are correct its because it's used for other stuff and you'd be interfering.

Think my diff breather is rusted shut. There was a lot of pressure released when I changed my diff fluid and when I inspected my drum brakes the passenger side had some oil residue inside the housing so I suspect that I may have blew a seal... I’m hoping that I can replace the diff breather and just replace the seal and the bearing will still be okay. I’d rather not send it to a shop to get pressed

When I rebuilt my Jeep transmission I replaced the stupid breather valve on it with a fitting. I drilled original breather and tapped it for the fitting, then ran a long breather line. I haven’t looked how the breather is on the Tacoma differential but you might be able to do something similar.
