It’s actually 09 which had a x3. My hard tail is 2015 giant. I’ve thought about putting fox 32 forks on it, with me being able to get fox half off.

For trail shredding, I'd lean more towards a 34. A 36 on a hardtail would be a little excessive.

Gonna be honest and admit I haven't looked through this whole thread to find an answer but is anyone running a tailgate pad with the OEM tonneau cover? I had a pad on my 07 Silverado and had a Bakflip trifold and i could leave the pad on and still close the tonneau just fine. When I threw my bike in, I just unfolded it twice. Thinking about getting a bomber strap so I don't lose my backup camera. Would I be able to leave the strap on with the tonneau closed? I know its not that much work to take the strap off each time but TBH I'm lazy.

Which compressor and what mount did you use?

That's an ARB dual, and based on the twisted bracket, thats a Slee Offroad mount with the 3rd gen adapter that is sold here on TW.

The bomber strap is a cool idea, but kind of crap if you care about the paint on your tailgate. Even with the handlebar strap in place, the tire can still rub the tailgate, and its not like the bomber strap is exceptionally cheap.

After watching this thread so long, I concluded the best tailgate pad for the width of the 3rd gen tailgate is the Yakima gatekeeper. Has a big window for the camera/handle and is designed for the wider tailgates of modern trucks. I have not used it a bunch so I have not posted up pics or any review yet, but so far so good. I doubt it would work with a tonneau cover though, at least one designed to keep water out.

Just tuck the handle flap up and behind and it won't block the camera

For those with RCI racks, they recently released a bike mount. A small thing, but something I've been looking forward to, as my 1up rack should attach via the U-bolts to the side of my RCI aluminum rack with no issues. Also their 15% off sale is still going.

Rode my bike for the first time yesterday, didn't make it 10 feet before running over a broken bottle, D'oh! Thankfully it did not slice the tire open and I had a decent ride.

I’ve seen a local 3rd gen with factory trifold and I think a Fox tailgate pad. Talked with the owner, it worked fine he said. I just got my freebie Dakine pad to work with my Tyger soft rollup, it closed, but barely. We’ll see how it works.

Mine will not close on either my evoc or my race face pad. Either way it doesn't really matter, as there's no way the bike would fit in with only 2 folds of the top. You can fold the top all way up and hold it out of the way with the small Braces that pop out But then you can't see out the rear window period

The Dakine DLX fits great and has an opening for the camera -- it's what I am currently running.

    https://www.dakine.com/en-us/bags/travel-bags/bike-bags/dlx-pickup-pad/

I wish Raceface made the a new pad for the third gen tailgate. The Raceface style is an awesome pad, but it doesn't fit on the third gen properly. The older gens had a thinner tail gate and the pads go on both side properly. You basically end up with the inner padding on top of the tailgate and the frame strap becomes a fork strap...
