Buy once, cry once. I went with Billies and they are great, but now I'm looking at suspension again to go with something more adjustable

Have to tread lightly once you start to get more into the adjustable race shock sphere. Typically the service life is significantly shorter than what people expect if you are in a muddy, salty environment.

That's a good point. Replacing bilsteins is cheap, icons not so much. I may have to keep that in mind!

Either way I need to go to 700lb coils with all the weight I'm adding.

You're still on 5125s? Just replace them as necessary?

Yep, I had the same set in front from 06 on the truck until 2015 or so when one started leaking and the other broken an eyelet off on a washboard road. Then I just replaced with a pair I found in my buddies garage and have been running them since. Rears I bought in 2015 and have been running ever since.

The most rock solid shocks/struts I have ever had were OME Nitrochargers, they were on my DD 4Runner in northern Illinois for 100k when I traded the truck. Didn't ride anything like a higher end shock would have but they were still in good shape when I had the suspension off 6 months before I got rid of the truck.

Seems like I replace uniballs every other year and I usually only take 4ish trips a year. Race truck parts require race truck maintanance when used like race truck parts.

Seems like JBA(?) UCA's, 88X's, Bilsteins, and Chevy 63's is the budget baller build that works most times and gives a really capable rig.

That’s a good lift def don’t go any higher. It took me lots of research to find what I wanted and liked the most on my suspension as well. It’s all really personal preference. Plus it depends on how much u want to spend!

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
After this trip, i'm very happy with my Bilstein 6112/5160 setup (oem ucas) on the 4R. Cheaper than the kings i had on the taco and no rebuilding or valve tuning required.

Me and mike do. Mine came on my old truck that’s the reason I have them. I think Mike wanted foxes but they were out of stock and wanted to get the lift on. So yeah neither one of us for any good reason have Icons
