I'm going to keep them together, just for simplicity's sake - sorry Smashh_12.

Separate them. Cannot recommend it enough. I sold my snugtopp separately and got my money back. They are hot commodities.

Not to shit on that post, but these are 20% off at REI when they have a sale making them around $900 with tax brand new. I have bought... several.

I am stuck between CVT and Tepui but they literally look the same.

There's a rugged one on racialist that seems to be discounted enough to be worth it.

In my absurdly extensive experience, CVT and Tepui are about the same build wise. The Tepui telescoping ladder is way way better than anything CVT made up to 2018 but the owner of CVT will call you on the phone if you have a problem making it a wash in my opinion.

How much could I get for it, do you think? If I trade in at a dealership, does the topper affect the price they'd offer me? Still leaning no, but I'm also not the cleverest!

No they in fact often do not like having them with a trade-in (They wont offer you shit, because they need to make money off your trade-in). I sold mine separately for $1500. I had it in my garage for about 12 days after getting my new truck. You won't notice it, its not that bad, use the money to invest in your new truck.

Same goes for the wheels. Buy some beater wheels and slap them on. Or throw them on here and say $800 Wheels for sale, and they must trade you for their stock ones. Then you knock two birds off with one stone.

Trust me dude, unless you have deep pockets you'll thank me later. I promise.

Supporting REI is supporting the closure of public lands and orv areas to anything other than foot traffic. No hate, I just didnt know if you guys are aware. Can't say i've never patronized them, but i try not to and haven't for many years.

Just heard of them today. TBH trying to go with a highly known name so if/when something breaks I can get customer service which is what I like about cvt.

LOL I don't actually have a RTT anymore. I bought a used ayer and sold it so I could get something bigger for my wife and I, then bought a used 3+ person CVT and sold it because it was too big to set up by myself (my wife decided she doesn't like car camping), bought another Ayer (new this time) since it was easy to set up and big enough for just me, then found a deal on a FSR hardshell that was just too good not to buy so retuned the ayer, then decided the hardshell was too hard to manage and took up the entire roof rack so I sold that. Now I'm waiting for REI to have another sale so I can buy a goddamn Ayer. This was in the span of three-ish years.

Basically I'm an idiot and can't make up my mind.

They are a fairly well known company. They are located in Bend just like CVT. I have no experience with either company but I plan on getting a FSR when I get a tent.

Can you share more context around this? First I've heard of this stance from REI.

Nearly all RTTs are made by the same two or three factories in China, which is why they all are made from the same material and have the same general design.

FWIW, Four Wheel Parts in Lynnwood has SmittyBilt tents, which seem to get okay reviews. I bought the smaller one (basically a queen mattress) last weekend for $600 out the door. The larger version (king mattress) is $975.

They had to bring mine in from another store, and I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet, so I'll let you know what I think of it after this weekend.
